" Monika, this is getting dirty. I think we need to hire bodyguards," Avantika said, her voice filled with worry over Utkarsh's increasingly erratic behavior.

" Yeah, I think so," Monika replied. " Day by day, he’s just getting more out of control. I don’t know where he gets these crazy ideas. It’s like his brain is stuck on nonsense."

" Yes, it is concerning," Avantika agreed, sighing deeply.

" But Mom, this whole affair business fake news—I don’t like it. You know about my past, " Monika added, her voice tinged with frustration.

" Yes, I know and sorry about that but I was so desperate at that time. Nobody was giving you work," Avantika tried to explain.

" Don’t fool me with your words, Mom," Monika interrupted, her eyes narrowing.

" Okay, " Avantika said, realizing it was better to keep quiet. She knew she couldn’t justify her actions.

" And he was talking about which credit card? " Monika asked, suspicion in her voice.

Avantika hesitated, unsure how to answer. She couldn’t lie, but she couldn’t avoid the question either. " That’s nothing, beta. He’s just being stupid. "

" Mom! " Monika insisted, her patience wearing thin.

" That's my credit card "

" Which one? " Monika inquired further.

" Oh my God! His dad gave me that card after your wedding," Avantika confessed.

" What? " Monika was shocked.

" You know, Monika, I spent all my savings on your wedding. We were almost bankrupt. So, when Mr. Wadhwan found out, he gave me his card to help us. "

Monika was at a loss for words. Mr. Wadhwan had acted out of generosity, but Utkarsh had twisted it in his mind.
" Okay, Mom. Now let’s just return it. "

" Return it? But why? I mean I know Utkarsh has a problem with sharing his money but Mr. Wadhwan gave me this on his own. And he didn’t mind if we used it. And I am only keeping it for emergencies," Avantika protested.

How could Avantika let go of the key to Mr. Wadhwan's bank account? Call her greedy, but money is what everyone needs to live in high society. You can't maintain your status with morals alone.

" Mom, now I’m capable of handling any kind of emergency, " Monika argued.

" Not as capable as Mr. Wadhwan," Avantika retorted.

" Mom! " Monika whined, exasperated.

" Listen, honey, we just came out of bankruptcy. And your marriage failed because of Utkarsh. Let them pay for our bankruptcy," Avantika insisted.

" I don’t want anything to do with him. So let’s just return it," Monika countered.

" No, this isn’t how the world works. He did this to us, now he has to pay. I don’t care what he feels about it. I don’t like that kid attitude," Avantika said firmly.
