(Harry)
I had left to see my mum and sister in hopes they knew some way to fix everything. I had arrived hours before but I spent most of my time touring the place I once called home. Everything was so dark now and the streetlights were casting shadows on the sidewalk. I kicked a few rocks while walking to my childhood home. I finally reach the door to my house and knock softly. My mum answers surprised.
"Heavens, Harry I wasn't expecting you until Christmas Eve." Christmas Eve was Lou's birthday. I held in tears.
"I came early to ask your advice on something."
"Couldn't you ask me on the phone?" She looked confused.
"It needs to be in person."
"Say no more; come in. You'll freeze your ass out there in this weather, my silly boy." She let me into the house and I immediately warmed up.
"Before I say anything, just know that I love you very much."
"And before you say anything, I want you to know that no matter what it is, I'll love you always."
"Well, the thing is. I made this huge mistake and it cost me a whole lot." She pressed me to continue.
"I cheated on Louis." She slapped my shoulder.
"Ouch!" I rubbed my shoulder to feel better.
"I raised you better than that, Harry."
Then Gemma appeared in her pajamas all sleepy.
"Harry's here?" She yawned.
"Yes and he cheated on Louis."
"Idiot!"
"Hey, I came here for advice from my family. Did I come to the wrong house?" They both sighed.
"Alright, Harry, what do you want?"
We all sat down on the sofa with some tea. I had grown quite fond of tea since I couldn't have Louis in my life. Tea was my new Louis.
"Now, tell us what happened." My mum said as she sat down.
"Yes, Harry. Tell us why you're such an idiot." I gave Gemma a look.
"Well, I met this girl one day and made a mistake in pursuing her." I told them the story of how I met Anna.
"So, you're straight now?" I rolled my eyes at my sister.
"No. It was purely physical between us." I felt extremely uncomfortable saying that in front of my mother but it was important somehow to make sure it was clear that I wasn't saying that I was straight.
"So, you were using her for sex then?"
"Gemma! Dear, god. Can you just drop it, please?" I was covering my face.
"Harry, please continue." My mum looked almost pale. But I continued.
They attempted to interrupt me every once in a while but eventually just let me explain. Once I was done explaining everything they both asked me the same question.
"So what are you going to do now?"
"I was hoping you guys had some ideas because I don't know anymore."
"Well, you can't just let him take Anthony completely away from you." Gemma said almost defensively.
I appreciated that she was on my side even though I made a mistake.
"You should try to talk to Louis about this. You shouldn't just give up on your relationship."
"I'm not giving up, mum. He's seeing someone else now, I think though."
"You should fight for custody or atleast joint custody." Gemma was right, but I'm not that bold.
They both tried to help me come up with some ideas for winning Louis back. We decided on the best idea and then went to sleep. I almost couldn't sleep on account of I was too excited if it was going to work.
************
I awoke to the smell of breakfast being made. Mum had made what she usually made for us growing up. I almost felt like I was being transported back in time. If that were possible, I would go back before I cheated on Louis though. Back before I even met him. That way I could really think about how it was going to work. I could either meet him and do things right this time, or avoid meeting him and hope he doesn't have the sucky life that I forced upon him. I just really hope one day he'll forgive me for what I did.
Maybe he never would?
I ate breakfast after getting dressed for the day. I decided that I'd explore today and visit some of the places that I missed. I met with some old "friends" and had walked into the library. Sometimes when I was sad, I'd come here to sort of transport myself in another world. I really could use some transporting right now. I found a nice quiet spot to read and picked a nice fantasy book. It was nice to read again. I had always admired writers for their work and creativity. I guess that's what drew me closer to Louis because he's a writer.
It was peaceful and I got lost in the book. When it was finally done, I stood up and was about to place the book back when I noticed my old crush. He looked even more handsome than he did back in high school. He and I almost became friends until someone blurted out that I liked him and it scared him off. I didn't blame him, but it still hurt to be rejected as even a friend. I put the book back and made my way out of the library. I didn't want to bump into him and have to have some sort of a conversation after what happened. Even if it was years ago.
Seeing him made me realize a few things. One, I am still the flabby, lanky, lad I've always been. Two, I'll never be anything but ugly. Three, it's possible to be attractive and get even better looking as you age. Finally, my dream was right; I was still dreaming of the past. I needed to focus on the here and now and plan for the future. Otherwise, I'll never win Louis back like I plan to.
I walked into a nice little food place and ordered some lunch. I almost didn't realize what time it was since I was reading so much in the library. My food was delicious and I couldn't help but want to take Lou here sometime. That's when I remembered that he and I separated a while ago. He would have loved to come here and now he may never get the chance. Well, he won't with me. Maybe someone nicer will take him here.
After lunch I decided to keep walking. I didn't want to think about Lou until I got home.
