(Harry)
I awoke to the sound of loud banging on my door. It just wouldn't stop. The noise eventually got to the point that I couldn't hear my own thoughts. Then it just stopped abruptly and then I was being hit multiple times with a pillow. I was seriously considering killing this obnoxious human for invading my chambers and interrupting a wonderful dream about Louis. But alas, I couldn't kill this idiot. So instead, I hit it back just as hard and it fell off my bed and onto the ground.
"Ouch! Asshole!" I smirked.
"That's what you got for being so damn annoying all the F'ing time, Liam."
"Now is that any way to treat the very person who has found the perfect way to get some alone time with Louis to talk?" I froze.
"What are you talking about? Spit it out, Liam! Be a good boy and tell me!"
"First of all, not your dog. Second of all, if you must insist on treating me like I'm some sort of pet of yours then you must give me treats. Third of all, I am invited to Niall's wedding today and I'm taking you as my plus one."
"One, you are my dog. Two, I'll give you some Oreos. Third, you better not be lying to me or I'll F'ing kill you, Liam. I swear I will."
"I swear to you that I'm not bullshitting you. I kid you not, my man. I did the liberty of buying you a suit and you better hurry and get dressed or I'm leaving you here all alone."
I zipped out that door like The Flash. No way am I missing this chance.
************
I arrived at the wedding with Liam walking by my side.
"Li, I don't think this is a good idea. I'm suddenly feeling rather sick."
"Oh, pish posh. Stop being a liar and let's go straight to Louis to get that one-on-one I promised."
"Leeyum, are you even sure this'll work?"
"Undoubtedly so. Maybe you can get some real one-on-one?" He winked and I just shook my head.
We looked around a bit to see if we could find Louis. He didn't seem to be anywhere here. That meant he could only be in one place and that wasn't for the guests. He'd be with Niall preparing for the wedding. It was weird to think that over eleven years ago Louis and I got married. I can't believe it's really been that long. A little less that those years were spent apart.
"Louis must be helping Niall out in his dressing room." Liam seemed to be focusing on some brunette near the food table.
"Oh, yeah? Probably, I guess."
"Should we just wait out here for him?"
"Um, yeah. Whatever you just said. Let's do that. I'll just be right back." Of course. He left me all alone to go talk to some random girl that he literally just saw a few seconds ago. Now I get to stand here awkwardly and hope Louis comes out soon. I really hope that Liam's plan works out, or else I give up.
************
It was after the whole wedding ceremony and I was standing by the food table while Liam and Niall talked. Just then, I finally saw him.
"Um, Harry, what are you doing here?" Louis said that with his teeth slightly grinding together. Not in an angry or annoyed way, but more of an awkward and slightly bothered kind of way.
"Liam invited me to be his plus one. I didn't come here to cause problems." He glared at Liam.
"I see. Well, I actually have been meaning to talk to you." Did he actually say that to me? Am I imagining things?
"You have? Um, okay."
"Can we talk somewhere more privately?" I nodded.
"Um, of course. Sure."
"Um, alright." Why is he acting so awkward right now? Is it because of the events of last night?
He led me away from the food table and into what I assumed was a dressing room. I guess he figured this was the best place to talk privately without being disturbed. Louis wanted to talk to me. I wanted to talk to him first and now I find out that he wanted to talk to me? Oddly, I began to feel rather nervous about talking to him. This was the first time since the separation that Lou and I would be alone in a room together. What if it becomes awkward? What if I end up blurting out a lie out of fear? I had so many questions and part of me just wanted to hug him. But I knew that would only make things more awkward for us. I just let him speak.
"Harry, about last night."
"Yeah?" I remember every detail.
"Honestly, I don't remember much. Can you please run me through how exactly it is that we saw each other last night?"
"Well, you left me quite a few texts, voicemails, and tried to call me. I had a chance to answer your last call and you told me lots of things. You first said in one of your voicemails that you....." I can't let him know everything. I'll shorten the details.
"That I what?"
"You told me that you needed me to take you home because you were hurting and you said something about not wanting to marry Colton." That's when it got super quiet in the room.
"Oh, um, thank you, Harry. I think I've heard enough." He hurried out of the room. I didn't really understand why he said he needed to talk but changed his mind so suddenly. Perhaps he never really wanted to talk after all? Maybe I'll never know why Louis left the room so suddenly after seeming so eager to talk to me. After that, I didn't talk to Louis for another three years.
