Chapter 2: Assembling the Team

S.H.I.E.L.D HELLICARRIER

•Athena's POV•

After the explosion, we, or at least Fury, Coulson, Hill, and I had moved to the Hellicarrier. We were floating out somewhere in the middle of the ocean of the coast of North America, but I had no idea where. It's classified.

I walked down the halls and looked around, at the lab, the rooms, everything. Most of the agents went around like nothing, but I had to explore.

I had also gotten and earpiece instead of a walkie talkie, which was now in use.

"Agent" Fury spoke directly to me.

"Come into my office, stat."

I walked to the end of the hallway, to a pair of steel double doors. I opened them fearlessly, and walked in.

"Agent" Fury greeted

I looked around the room, which kind of looked like the lab, and then replied.

"Morning Sir." I greeted back.

"What did you need me for?" I questioned

"We need to discuss an important matter." He replied as he stood up and walked out behind the desk he'd been sitting at.

"The Avengers Initiative."

I looked at him in disbelief.

"The Avengers Initiative?

"The Avengers? Like Earth's Mightiest Heroes and all that stuff?" I asked, still surprised.

"Yes. That's the one." He replied simply

"Soooooooo why am I needed for this mission?" I questioned

"Because-" he started as he walked over so we were face to face.

"You're gonna be one." He pointed at me.

I raised one eyebrow. "One what?" I asked, even though I had a feeling that I knew the answer.

He smiled "An Avenger." He said nonchalantly.

"Wait what? Why me??" I was shocked

"Because you're powerful. And you're a level 9 Agent. It's convenient and it would've been foolish to exclude you." He said in his usually no-nonsense, Fury-like voice

"Wow.....okay..." I scrambled for words.
