Chapter 7: Mutant

We had already been in the jet for 20 minutes and we were almost to Stuttgart. We were traveling at supersonic speeds, so it would only take us about 10 more minutes to get there.

The fly had been primarily me practicing walking in my long dress to make sure I wouldn't make an ass of myself. Sometimes Cap would watch me and chuckle a bit, but he was obviously bored, and was otherwise sitting quietly. I remembered the mask thing after looking over to him, who was twiddling his thumbs quietly.

I walked over, right in front of him.

"Yes?" He asked, looking up to me, obviously confused

"Your mask is crooked!" I laughed a little as I straightened it out for him.

"Oh. Thanks!" the chuckled back and looked up at me, with a slight blush on his cheeks. I smiled back, just looking nice down at him as he looked back at me, the corners of his mouth upturned in a slight grin.

I felt like someone was watching, so I pulled my eyes away from Steve's and looked over to Natasha. She gave me a sly look and wiggled her eyebrows.

"No" I mouthed to her as I glared at her for a second, took a few steps back away from Steve, turned back around and continued pacing across the floor.

"Okay, I have to ask.... What does your code name mean? Cause I don't get it." Cap admitted, standing from his seat.

"Well... It has something to do with my skill set...the kids at S.H.I.E.L.D Academy started it." I started to explain to him.

"Okay, another question." He said, pacing across the floor of the jet.

"What is your 'skill set'?"

"I'll show you. Hand me one of those parachutes." I pointed at the set of 6 parachutes that were lined up behind Cap. He reached behind and grabbed one and held it out to me.

"Okay." I smiled up at him. I rubbed my hands together. "You ready for this?" I asked

"Ready!" He sounded eager, obviously not knowing what's about to go down.

I held my hand out so it was about a centimeter away from the parachute. I then stuck one finger out, and touched it. The whole thing was engulfed in ice in less than a second, which caused Cap to drop the parachute to the ground. He looked back up at me in disbelief.

"Pretty cool right!" Natasha yelled from the front seat of the jet.

There was silence before Cap finally spoke up.

"I understand the dress now." He said exasperatedly, which earned chuckles from Nat and I. I took his remark as a compliment and smiled a bit as I looked down at my feet. He then caught my attention once again.

"So what exactly do you call that kind of skill set?" He asked curiously, gesturing in between my hands.

"Well... It's a mutation. A genetic mutation." I replied "The formal name for the ice powers is Cryokinesis. It means I can create and manipulate sub-freezing temperatures and substances. And I have regenerative cells, and I heal 3x faster than a normal person. Like you!" I explained. "Or at least that's what my file says." I exclaimed with a small smile.

"Well Agent, that's nice to know!" He exclaimed happily, which instantly made me feel more comfortable.

"Please, call me Athena. No 'Agent' or 'Tundra' or anything like that." I insisted.

"Okay. Then just call me Steve. No 'Captain' or anything. Because to be honest, I haven't been a Captain for 70 years."

"Okay. First names it is." I agreed with a chuckle.

"This is you, Thena." Natasha interrupted Steve and I, and pointed down to a big building with a big crowd of people. "Oh Jesus " I mumbled.

As the jet lowered closer to the ground, I felt the nerves start to constrict my stomach. "Wait!" I called as I was about to step out of the jet. "I'm not gonna be able to get in! Please tell me you hacked the guest list so my name is on it!"

"You really think we would forget that?" Natasha quipped

"Now go on! We need you to be in there before Loki kills someone!"

I walked down the ramp that had been lowered, and stopped to straighten my dress as my feet hit the pavement.

"Wait Agent- or... Athena." Steve said in a some what hushed voice. I turned and looked at him.

"Don't let Loki see you, but watch out for him. Tell me when you first see him." He ordered

I nodded in response.

He raised his hand and saluted me off. I returned the favor, and then started walking to the front doors of the big building.

Jesus why did I make my chapters so short
