Chapter 20

Chapter 20: The Grand Finale!

After all 6 of us Avengers got back up to Stark Tower and captured Loki, we all returned to the Hellicarrier one last time so we could get changed before the big send off. It was a bittersweet moment for all of us, knowing very well that once the two Odinsons were back in Asgard with the Tesseract, some of us wouldn't be seeing each other for a long while.

We all changed into our preferred garb in our rooms on the Hellicarrier.

I changed into a pair of dark grey jeans, a red, white and blue plaid button down shirt and black converse. I would probably be taking an (allowed) leave of absence from my job at S.H.I.E.L.D for a while, so it didn't matter if I looked professional or not.

We all took different modes of transportation back to the send off spot in Manhattan, with Bruce with Tony in his car, Clint and Nat in a S.H.I.E.L.D car together, Steve on his motorcycle and me in another one of S.H.I.E.L.D's cars alone.

We all gathered around Thor and Loki, who was now contained in a muzzle, as Dr. Selvig took the Tesseract from a briefcase and placed it into the glass container that Thor held.

Once the Tesseract was placed safely inside, Thor held out the case so that the other handle was out for Loki to grab. He grabbed it, and Thor looked around at all of us, then nodded as a goodbye. He then turned his handle, and they were shot back into the sky, back to their home realm.

Everyone started walking towards each other, saying goodbyes, but it seemed that I was the only one who didn't really know where to go. I didn't have an apartment, and I didn't want to go back and live on the Hellicarrier, either.

Steve then started walking towards me, and it finally hit me that I would have to say goodbye to him. As he reached me, he smiled down on me with a peaceful expression.

"So where are you off to, Ms. Regan?" He asked as he crossed his arms over his chest with a smile.

"Oh, I don't know." I said in a joking tone, even though I actually was dead serious.

"I assume you're not going back to S.H.I.E.L.D."

"No I am... I will... Just not now. I think I'll take my holiday." I replied with a smirk up at him.

"Well then you might need to go apartment shopping then. And my building always has open rooms."

"Oh really? Is that so?" I said sarcastically. "That does sound pretty great, though. Having you as a neighbor."

Right as Steve was about to respond, Tony and Bruce drove by in Tony's fancy Acura.

"Thena who are you going with? Cuz I think I'm pretty much your legal guardian!" Tony yelled at me as he tilted his sunglasses so he could look at me and Steve.

"Yeah right, Stark! In your dreams!" I joked back at him.

"But seriously, Frosty, you need to live somewhere. And if you think you're going off to live with Capsicle, then I forbid it." He said sarcastically as he pointed at Steve.

"I'm a legal adult, Anthony. I can do whatever I want." I joked as I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Okay, but still. You guys have only known each other for like 3 days. It might've worked for the Little Mermaid, but it doesn't work for you." Tony said, trying not to dwell on the fact that he just referenced Disney princess movie.

"Now get your stuff from Romanoff, and come to Stark tower with us until you find an apartment of your own."

I turned back around to Steve as Tony waited for an answer.

"Sounds like a plan." He said with a small smile before I could even say anything.

"Then can you help me get my stuff?" I asked him, and he started walking with me over to Nat and Clint in their car.

Before we even got to the car, Natasha reached into the back seat and got my S.H.I.E.L.D duffle bag and handed it to me.

"Our little baby is leaving the nest!" I heard Clint yell out from the front seat of the car.

"Very funny!" I yelled back at him as I grabbed my other backpack full of stuff from the back and threw over my other shoulder.

"I'll see you guys, hopefully soon." I said to Natasha as I hugged her, and then Clint got out of the car and gave me a hug as well.

"Be careful, Thena." Natasha said with a smile. Steve then helped me take my bags back to my car by taking the duffle bag and carrying it for me.

Steve handed me the bag, and I threw it in the passenger's seat along with my backpack.

"Okay, so you'll help me find an apartment?" I asked as I turned to face Steve again.

"Of course I will!" He said happily.

"Wait! But I won't be able to call you or anything! You don't even have a phone!"

"Just follow us to Stark Tower." Tony said as he drove up right beside us again. "We'll hook you up with all that and send you on your way."

"But you're gonna have to teach him how to use it!" Tony pointed at me and chuckled.

"Fine! Sounds like a deal!" I agreed to Tony and then turned back towards Steve.

"Am I gonna regret this?" Steve asked sarcastically with a smirk

All I did was smile up at him, before I decided to have a little fun with Tony.

I grabbed Steve by the collar of his shirt, stood up on my tiptoes and kissed him softly. He immediately kissed me back, and I heard Tony saying "EW!" like a little kid. I laughed against Steve's lips and we both eventually let go of each other. I then turned around to Tony and Bruce with a smirk.

"You see, unlike Ariel, I actually got a kiss on the 3rd day." I said cockily as I watched the annoyed look on Tony face as Bruce and Steve laughed.

"Actually before the 3rd day." Steve added.

"Damn straight!" I said cockily as I turned back to him and we high-fived.

"Okay, come on were burning daylight." Said Tony grumpily as he revved his engine.

He and Steve split up, me jumping into my car and him mounting his motorcycle. I buckled myself in and started the car as I heard Steve's motorcycle's engine roar behind me.

"You ready?" I yelled to him as I turned to see him.

"Let's find out!" He shouted back to me with a smirk. I turned around, and one by one, Tony, then me, then Steve sped down the road to Stark tower.
