"And who is this gentleman?" Gavin eyed back to my follower.

"Oh! Right. I almost forgot!" I halted and so did the two turning to face me. "Meet Callen-" callen stomped at my foot and I quieted abruptly eyeing him with a questioned look . The old man didn't caught our exchange. "Callen greg. I helped zenovia find kai which is Nothing worth mentioning." Callen lied through his teeth. Its his choice and decision I didn't interfered. "O-Ho-Ho. Impressive. We're indebted to you. You must be rewarded. Say! What do you wish for?" He is thankful so here goes his generosity. I almost rolled my eyes.

"Infact. My debt is settled." Callen assured the Director but he was rather confused.

"And how did that happen son?" The frown deepened his wrinkles.

"His mother saved my life earlier. If it weren't for her I won't be alive standing here." Callen confession was more astonishing to me. His eyes flickered to mine before focusing back to where they were. It sounded like he was conveying me, we no longer owe each other anymore.

It was nice but the reality of the situation was the string that connected us had come to an end.

But I felt burdened rather than lightness. My shoulders dropped.

"Oh is that so?" Father was thrilled. I shook the unknown feeling concentrating on his words. "I knew my..my..zenovia was blessed. I felt the heavenly vibes radiating off her the day Hubert introduced us. I tell you.." The first he wanted to say 'my daughter in law' but then he realized he couldn't, he had lost me. Second he thought he can atleast say 'my grandson's mother' but he recently lost this title too.

"I don't deserve such flattery. Sir." I politely said ushering him to start moving.

"Nah, you were lucky to encounter zenovia my son." He waved his finger in a lecturing gesture.

"Indeed I am." Callen stated. I smiled. Gavin stopped and so did we. He turned slowly eyeing callen from head to toe. I didn't catch what he expressed but he resumed forward on his own and we followed before sharing a glance.

When I first met Hubert's father. I saw it in his eyes, he was beyond happy seeing his good-for-nothing son bringing a capable wife with bonus ― A son, from a wedlock, a sacred ritual securing us. Things he wished for knocked at his door in his old age. Me? At that time I was keeping myself from choking on my own happy tears. For someone who never experienced the love of biological parents was suddenly granted a loving father to address who was constantly around me he switched to caring attitude at first sight since I was pregnant unlike his own son. I ignored his avoidance on me because of the presence of his compassionate father.

But after a year when Gavin left for Boston after Kai's arrival hubert also went back with the leech, Ashley ― Divorced. Gavin was at a loss of words. In his traditioned eyes, a mistress was unacceptable. She didn't possessed the qualities I did. Neither she was a doctor nor her behavior pleased him.

She is a homewrecker. Gavin didn't accepted their relationship and that won't benefit Hubert so he postponed the engagement. Hubert understood he needed kai for the very most to get thick headed old hag's Director's position. But I was the obstacle.

I provided Gavin the whole story for why I divorced and deprived Hubert of Kai's custody. He was practical enough to understand and very much blamed Hubert alone.

But Ashley wasn't having it. She was stupid and yet even after ending up behind the bars she still doesn't know a thing about the real game. She just drowned herself into water without knowing the type of fire she was in the midst of. Serves my desperate scapegoat right.

She actually planned to kill kai because she thought he isn't giving her the rightful title because of kai. She didn't knew she was the problem herself all along. She dragged Hubert to prison along with her in the end.

That's what happens when you side with an outsider in a family game.

I want to laugh my heart out at their odesity to pick on my people.

"Looks like this is it." I say coming back to reality and arriving at our destination. It took seemingly long as we courted our director at his pace.

"Shh. He must be sleeping." Gavin hushed more excited than anyone before I even opened the door. His love for kai never wavered with time. I snickered but stopped and lowered my gaze when I caught callen seeing me. Gavin was entering the ward but stopped noticing our awkward silence. I cleared my throat surpassing him in reaching first beside Kai's bed to divert his attention. But he sat next to me only after giving him a stern look.

Strange enough.
