3:29 AM
Doorknob clicked open,
Callen's eyes shot open at the very same moment, he had heard the disturbance at the entrance of the house, and it was now moving to the floor above,
Above where he his room was,
He had sensed there were more than one intruder.
'Zenovia!'
He fished out his gun from under the pillow and a rifle from under his bed ready to use. First he had to ensure her safety, but the stampede only approached his room, while she slept in her office, which is downstairs.
'Not only did they knew the password to the security, they are directly aiming for me.'
He positioned in attacking stance, finger curled on the trigger, Breathings slow and even.
To his surprise there was a knock on the door, "Open the door." His breath caught at his highest, hands down, he relaxed.
He could recognise the man, it is his old man. His father was well aware of his son's vigilance too, he knew to better knock than be sorry.
"What are you doing here dad?"
The guards took positions all around and in the house without a noise.
Callen closed the door and disarmed himself taking out the memopad from the drawer.
"You very well know why."
"I'm not coming back without her."
"Why are you so persistent? Is this a safe place!? Even the facilities you get here are limited!"
"I know what I am doing." Callen said simply, trying to dismiss him.
"This is not a game. I almost lost you once. Thanks to the lady, you're alive. Come back with me willingly."
The hidden threat behind father's words, callen clenched. He receives every detail of callen's everyday life. If callen leaves willingly, without a fuss, Zenovia will be safe."
"Callen!!" Callen heard her cry banging the door, vigorously. Then screaming, then knocking the door again.
"Callen!" She had quieted. He could hear her heavy tired breaths.
'The guards must've been stopping her, but they aren't harming her.'
His eyes met his father's. The was keeping his words. He smirked, callen called out, "let her in."
The old man's brows furrowed, 'why is he letting an outsider in?' His child has gone insane.
Zenovia ran in huffing as soon as the guards let her go. "Callen..?"
She saw callen jotting down a note, Guns on his bed and a man in black suit standing across him, with an angry expression, his head turned towards her and she saw more distain visible on his wrinkled face.
One thing she knew, no man barging in at night is a good man, no matter the age.
The sight before her didn't seem so friendly either.
The old man signalled his men raising his hand and the next moment she was pricked in her neck, she saw callen running to her stumbling in the process and everything went black.
Next day zenovia woke up to silver licking her face.
She searched the house but only found a note on the same place where she last saw him standing.
'Thanks for everything. I will repay you someday.'
Short but heartbreaking, it was more than that they had developed over the time.
She knew he was gone because this time he didn't take the credit cards or the keycard with him.
The house was the same as before. If silver hadn't woken her last night she might've not suspected a thing until very late.
The first in the morning after dropping silver to the pet care center, Zeno hurried to the police station.
The complaint was jotted down with crystal clear trouble.
She didn't had any photo, nor his identity information.
No evidence of his existence.
"Ma'am. We'll let you know if we find this person. Though it is difficult. But we'll try our best."
"When?" She was desperate, the cop understood.
"Ma'am, we will call."
Back to hospital, she couldn't keep up with the meeting, her mind keep going back to callen. Ticking pen, scribbling, none helped her with escape to reality.
The news about the other day had spread like wildfire in the hospital and other holdings of the well-known.
Wherever zenovia passed by, Gossips among the groups could be heard at every corner.
Zenovia was least concerned though,
"Yup. I saw it, Ashley was cuffed, a group of cops surrounded her. It's on the national news" a trainee shared her newly gained news.
"Why not! Her crime is big afterall! It's trending on social" the smartie of the group jumped in too.
"Oh look! The victim's mother. Things were ugly between the two from very long." Said the doe eyed nurse eyeing as zenovia handed over the information board, sanitizing her hands and putting gloves on. Instructing her juniors,
"It's a shame to bring a kid in the middle of their Chaos. So lame." The gossipers continued on utilising their break time after zenovia disappeared inside the operation hall.
"The real culprit ain't even taking up the responsibility. The wealthy has to hide behind money. How cheap he cannot let go of that evil witch after being aware of all the catfight."
"I think Zenovia needs to move on too. It's a matter of time she drags us too in her mess.
"She is admiring though." Adjusting glasses right the shorty swaying from side to side beaming with energy.
All heads turned to her praiser.
"I mean look how far she has come without that scumbag. You know, Guys are! And still she struggled to bring back her kid alive herself. That was really something out of a movie!"
"Yeah, she is always radiant during work. Even when I notice her down or tierd, she still manage to stay prudent. As a freshman I try to learn from her as much I can. I did noticed there were some glitches between the two and I also heard rumours it's because of a man and I went all detective type when I confirmed it's the chairman's son and Miss. Zenovia and the chairman have the custody of the son." Smarties can have such a big mouth, the group knew now.
"Isn't that disturbing?"
"I bet. Still, if something was wrong with the mother the child would automatically belong to the father, look at how rich they are, so maybe it's the father. I think he might be pulling the strings from behind." The passer-by nurse joined in too.
"As Twisted as rich they are." The other one commented.

Home..
Who is waiting for her there? She thought slowing down, no enthusiasm to reach as soon as possible.
"Woof!" Silver jumped on the backseat sensing his home was near.
She smiled. 'Atleast someone's happy'
"So, I heard people talk about me, than talking to me.." she tossed him a biscuit back and he woofed back in approval.
"I didn't interfere, you know the smarty that I am.." she Stuttered 'although I wanted to talk my heart out with.. someone..'
"My friend..you know, she went to vacation to meet her so-called grandmother, I doubt she's even alive." She tossed bite back. "But she'll be back. Soon."
