Y/N's POV

I had felt so much better after complaining to Sugawara. It was like a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders.

I told him all about what happened at practice and how Hinata was really getting on my nerves. "Y/N, he's just a kid... He wouldn't understand what you're feeling, even if you tried explaining it." He told me.

I thanked him and asked if he needed a ride home, to which he politely declined and was actual there for a game today. I hope it went well for him...

I took Sunday off of practice and told Hinata I was sick. I really didn't want to have to face him right now, it hurt too much.

What's happening to me? This is my dream. Why is my anxiety attacking me now?

I've always had problems with my mental health, and this was exactly why mom didn't want me moving to Torono.

I brushed the negative thoughts away and focused on cleaning the apartment up a bit, when suddenly a text alert came up on my phone.

From: UNKNOWN NUMBER

Hey Y/N! It's me, Kōshi Sugawara. I got your number off of Hinata, hope you don't mind ^^; I was wondering if you wanted to come watch the practice match against Nekoma tomorrow at 2pm? Hinata said you weren't feeling well, so a bit of fresh air might cheer you up! :)

I literally couldn't type back any faster.

Sugawara's POV -The next morning-

"DAICHI!!!!" I screamed, running from my bedroom to the kitchen, where my best friend since first year (and roommate) stood shirtless and happily making us breakfast.

"Uh oh" he laughed, pouring oil into the pan. "What have I done this time?" I shoved my phone in his face, growling loudly. "Did you use my phone to text Y/N when I fell asleep last night?!" Daichi grabbed the phone from my hand to look closer at the texts. "Huh. " He chuckled, staring at the phone. "I suppose I did." He grinned, punching my shoulder happily.

sure!~ sounds super fun! ^-^ I'm actually feeling a bit better now, so it shouldn't be too bad.. Oh, by the way, I really appreciated what you did for me yesterday. It cheered me up a lot!~

Daichi furrowed his brows in confusion and I quickly snatched the phone from him and put it into my pocket. "What was she talking about?" Daichi's voice deepened, and his eyes turned a dark shade, highlighting the bags under his eyes. Damn. Did he stay awake all night?

I gave a nervous chuckle and rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly. "It's not what it sounds like! She just dropped some books and I helped her pick them up!" It sucked lying to Daichi, but I couldn't go around telling people about what happened. I wouldn't.

"And that cheered her up?" Daichi asked skeptically. I wouldn't blame him, I'm a terrible liar. "Yeah, she was having a bad day so we shared a few jokes. That's all." Daichi opened his mouth to protest but I quickly shushed him, walking off to get dressed for the match.

Y/N'S POV

What was I doing again? Oh yeah, slowly messing my entire wardrobe up with outfits to wear to a volleyball match. "What do you even wear to one of those?!" I screamed.

"Probably something nicer than that, hunny!~" A familiar voice chirped. I spun around to find my childhood best friend Nishinoya grinning from ear to ear. I squealed with happiness as I ran over to greet him. He was the one who originally convinced me to come over to Torono, and arranged my scholarship. Noya lived beside me when we were kids, but eventually moved back to his house in Torono when his parents split up.

"How did you get in? When did you get here? How did you know where I lived and--" I paused for a second, releasing him from the hug and pushing him by the shoulders, giving me space to look him up and down with a fake scowl. "Have you not been eating your veggies?" I smiled, ruffling his hair. Noya growled with fake anger and tackled me onto the bed, where we exploded into a fit of laughter.

"Your door was unlocked. I've been here long enough to see you tear apart your wardrobe, momma Y/L/N told me." He answered. "And for your information I grew since we last met!" I laughed, pushing him off me playfully. "I should hope so! It's been 8 years! I'd be worried if you didn't, kiddo." He was only a year younger than me, but he was still smaller than me, standing at 5'3.

Noya giggled, standing up from my bed and walking over to my wardrobe. Ever since we were born till he moved away, Noya picked my outfits for things like school dances or public events. I never really understood why, but I just let him work away.

He was a fast cleaner, picking up all the lose, crumpled clothes on the ground and folding them neatly into piles. Eventually, he handed me a carefully-folded outfit and gestured to the bathroom. "Change, now!" He smiled, pulling me off of the bed.

Eventually, I came back out wearing pale blue ripped skinny jeans and a pastel-pink crop top. Noya looked like he stopped breathing, and let out a long sigh. "What? Is it tacky?" I asked. He shook his head vigorously and looked away. "No, of course not! It's just-" He picked up a pair of white converse from the floor and flung them at me with a grin, his cheeks slightly red.

"Nothing."
