Y/N's POV

I sat on the floor, my back against the wall and my knees up to my chest. Silent tears fell down my cheeks as I thought back to Noya and I sitting on my roof as kids. My mother used to say that someday we'll get married and own a house in the Suburbs. I even believed her at one point.

The entire thing was a lie: his parents divorce, the abuse allegations, everything. The nights filled with cuddles and horror movies were all an excuse to get closer to me.

I watched as Kōushi's headlights shone through the window. He got out of his car, and giving a small knock before letting himself in. "Y/N?"

"In here." I called, my voice hoarse and croaky. Kōushi's knuckles were red and bruised slightly, and I watched as he sat down next to me and took his hand in mine. For a few minutes, there was no talking. He didn't need to ask me if I was okay, or if I needed anything. I just held his hand in mine and laid my head on his shoulder, taking steady, deep breaths. I tightened my grip on his hand, sighing.

"P-Please stay. I-I don't wanna be alone right now Kōushi." I mumbled, my face turning a light rose. He smiled down at me, leaning his head on mine. "Of course. However.."

He lifted his head and straightened his back, turning to face me again. He took both hands in mine and looked in my eyes. "I know this is the last thing you need to hear right now, but volleyball tryouts are tomorrow. You don't need to-"

"No." I replied bluntly, folding my arms. "We worked for this, the best we could do is give it a go." I smiled through my glassy eyes. I knew things were falling apart right in-front of my eyes. I'm losing my qualifications for Jale, but all of that just seems like a crappy side-plot in the book of life. Kōushi smiled at me, but suddenly yelped in shock. "Good grief! It's nearly 3 am. Seriously, go to bed!"

I looked at him, worry striking my face. He read the look like a book. "Don't worry, I'll sleep down here. If you need me, I'll be on the sofa." He helped me to my feet, then wrapping his arms around my waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek softly. "I can't believe it's nearly been 2 months since we met." I whispered, tucking my head into his chest. "What are we?"

"I don't know, Y/N. However I do know this." He lifted my head out of his chest and kissed my lips softly. "I love you, and I promise I will do everything in my power to protect you from all harm."

I smiled, pulling him closer. I could feel my own heart against his as I hugged him. "I love you too."

The next morning was a scrambled mess of burnt pancakes and giggly arguments.

"The syrup goes after the sugar!!" I whined, snatching the bottle of strawberry sauce out of his hand. "It does not!" He argued, jumping up out of the seat to fake wrestle for the sauce. I squealed, running to hide behind the door. He caught up with me, grabbing me from behind with a chuckle. "Gotcha!"

We eventually calmed down and were sitting at the table, happily munching down on over-cooked, too sugary pancakes. "I'm glad you stayed." I smiled, tucking a strand of my (h/c) hair behind my left ear. "Me too!" He chuckled, picking up our plates and placing them in the sink. "Even if it is just to do your dishes." I chucked the place mat at him with a giggle, which he swiftly caught. "C'mon. I'll drive us to school."

My body visibly tensed. I really wasn't up to seeing Noya again, especially after such a great morning. Kōushi read my emotions yet again, and walked over to me, taking my hands in his. "Listen Y/N. I sorted it. He won't bother us again, I promise."

"Alright. I trust you."
