My phone vibrated violently on the table beside me, effectively making me jump out of my skin. I wasted no time in checking it as I had no idea if it was the pizza company I ordered from asking if the address of Tony Stark's house was correct or actually Mr. Stark himself. It turned out to be my dad.
"Dad?" I answered the phone.
"That would be me," was his reply.
"What's happening?" I asked, ignoring him.
"I thought I call and give you heads up that we're coming home in, say, an hour," he said casually.
"You and Peter are coming back!?" I asked, a smile growing on my face.
"Yes, and about 50 other people," he added quickly, "love you, honey, see you soon!"
"50 people-?!" I started, but he hung up. "You've got to be kidding me," I groaned let my head fall onto the pillow beside me.
"What's the problem?" Regan asked from his post.
"The problem is you still looking creepy in the corner," I said, not answering his question.
He raised an eyebrow and I sighed. "Fine. My dad's bringing 50 people back home but he hung up before I could ask him anything."
"Well, he and Peter are going to back. When are they going to be back?"
"He said an hour, but it's most likely half of that. He probably was already flying back when he thought to call ahead so I could not be in dirty sweatpants or something."
"You could just be happy that you get to see Peter and your dad soon then," Regan said, always annoyingly positive.
"This wasn't exactly the reunion I had in mind," I huffed.

My dad and his entourage arrived in 20 minutes. The warning must have really been an afterthought. I didn't really care, though, as my secret boyfriend came with the package.
"Dad! Peter!"I grinned, running to through myself into whose ever arms were available, but stopped short, not sure as what injuries they still had or had obtained.
Peter put any worry of his physical well-being by meeting my halfway and wrapped me in his arms. "I missed you, (Y/N)," he whispered for my ears alone.
"I missed you too, dork," I whispered back, tuning out everything but the safety of being in his arms.
"What, I don't get a welcome home hug?" My dad asked from beside us.
"Calm down, you're next," I detached myself regretfully from Peter to give my dad a hug. My dad could give a sick hug even in the well-fitting suit jackets he always wore.
The moment of 'welcome home' was short lived as unfamiliar men and women filled out of the jet, baring all sorts of equipment that I didn't recognize either.
"You're giving me the full story about what happened when you were gone if I can't squeeze it out of my dad," I whispered under my breath to Peter.
"That was my plan," he winked then was whisked away by some nondescript woman.
"Was it just me or does that guy seriously have a crush on you?" Regan's voice sounded from right behind me.
I jumped and whirled around. "We did you sneak up on me like that?!"
"You were too distracted by that guy so you didn't notice me normally walking up behind you," was his reply.
"Is it that obvious?" I cringed, really praying that my dad hadn't noticed.
"No, I've just trained myself to be able to read anybody; your dad is pretty tricky though," he added.
"Well, you've probably figured out that he's my secret boyfriend," I said, walking with him back inside the house, now filled with many voices and more whirring machines than normal.
"I guess as much."
"So you would guess as much that you can't tell anyone."
"It's not my place to tell anyone," Regan pointed out.
I nodded as we moved through the house to find a quiet spot. Well, I moved and he followed. My heart ached to go find Peter, but I knew from the whole atmosphere that he would be busy and I couldn't go kissing him right out in front of everybody. I hadn't realized how much I'd missed him until I'd had a split second with him and now I couldn't have him all to myself.
The bottom of the staircase was the spot I chose to sit. Regan stood his usual 3-5 feet away, but I patted the stair beside me.
"You're not a stranger anymore and you could protect me easier if you were right beside me," I said. He sighed, giving in, and sat down beside me.
"Do you think my dad will let you leave now that he's back?" I asked out of the blue.
Regan shrugged. "The contract said till Void was locked up."
"So you're staying?" I pressed.
"Probably, why?" I looked over to see a humorous glint in his blue eyes, "couldn't you stand it if I had to leave?"
I snorted. "You wish. I was more concerned about your income because I don't know who else is charitable to hire such an annoying personal guard."
"Oh please, I'm in high demand. You're lucky to have me," Regan feigned arrogance.
"Being egotistic doesn't suit you."
It was Regan's turn to laugh. "How flattering."
"Well, it is a comepltiment."
Another person cleared their throat from the doorway nearby.
"Oh, hi Peter!" I grinned, popping up from the step.
"I promised you a briefing," Peter said, eyeing Regan who had stood up too.
I noticed the tension in the room and took Peter's arm. "Regan, you can take a break while I'm with Peter. Go eat a poptart or something."
Regan nodded, unphased by Peter's aversion to him, and left.
I pulled Peter up to my room. "What was that about?" I asked when I closed the door.
"Regan, or whatever his name is, was flirting with you," Peter huffed.
"Okay, that's cute that you're jealous and stuff, but we're just friends. And, my dad hired him and four other guys to be, like, my 'personal guard' during this whole Void thing," I said. "Besides, I wouldn't dream of being with anyone but you," I added lacing my fingers through Peter's.
"Sorry, I've just been on edge lately," Peter said apologetically.
"It's okay. I just didn't imagine you to be the jealous type," I teased.
"I am if someone's trying to take you away from me," Peter whispered, pulling me close to his chest.
I smiled and tipped my head up to capture his lips with mine. "Dork."
