The last thing I remembered was hitting my head off the window to my right as the driver suddenly rammed his foot onto the accelerator, recklessly speeding down the road.

I slowly woke up after I blacked out. For a moment I totally freaked out in my mind, thinking I had gone blind. It took me a moment to realise I was blindfolded. I went to take it off but my hands were tied. So were my feet. I tried to scream but that was useless due to the duct tape firmly covering my mouth. I was completely helpless. Vulnerable. Frightened. Alone. Weak. Tired. Confused.

I was a mess.

A pair of firm hands unexpectedly found their way to my body. One arm under my legs, the other latched around my waist, pulling me to a rock hard chest. Whoever they were, was carrying me bridal style out of what I assumed was the car and I had no idea who they were, where I was or what was going on.

I started to shake my head and groan into the tape, letting them know I was awake.

"Shhhhh." He cooed into my hair. This did far from comfort me. It completely creeped me out.

I started to squirm and wriggle in his tight grip, I thrashed my head from side to side, screaming into the tape.

"Just calm down." He whispered calmly. "You're safe now." He continued to whisper.

Safe? Is he serious? How am I expected to believe that bullshit? I almost found myself laughing into the tape, but held it back. I still didn't know what or who I was dealing with. This wasn't the time to be sassy, my life could very well be on the line.

Although I couldn't see anything I could still hear. It sounded as if I was being carried through a house. A large one at that. There sounded to be a lot of stairs. I felt myself being laid side ways on a bed. Then I heard a door shut. Then locked.

That's when I heard my heartbeat, beating so hard against my ribcage I'm pretty sure he heard it too.

"I'm going to untie you now." He spoke softly. "But before you try anything, give me a chance to explain." He declared.

I hesitantly and slowly nodded. He ever so slowly and gently tore the tape from my mouth. He ran his thumb over both my lips, catching slightly at some extra sticky bits. He gently untied my hands and feet.

Lastly, my blindfold. I went to take it off myself now that my hands were free but he stopped me.

"Leave it on." He told me as he placed his hand on my wrist.

I nodded again in agreement. Too scared to speak in fear of saying something wrong or stupid.

"Okay." He took in a sharp deep breath and continued on. "I can't tell you too much. All you need to know is you're safe now. You will be as long as you're with me. I'll protect you from them."

Them?

"I- I think you have the wrong girl." I quietly spoke, my voice shaky.

"I'm never wrong Jessica." He said as if stating the obvious.

My breathe hitched. He knew my name. How did he know my name?

I suddenly felt a hand placed over mine. I jumped at the touch, I was extremely nervous and on edge. But most of all I was frightened, I was very very scared. I swear I could burst into tears at any given moment. But I didn't.

"Why are you so scared? I just told you, you're safe now." He whispered softly.

"No- no I'm not. How do you expect me to believe that. I want to go home. Please, I- I just want to go home." I whispered back, my voice barely audible.

"This is your home now." He replied sternly.

"No it's not! Take me home! I want to go home right now!" I screamed and burst into uncontrollable sobs, surely giving him a fright.

"Calm down, please." He pleaded while gently pulling me into his strong chest. "You have to trust me. I'm not going to hurt you. You're safe." He told me for about the 100th time, stroking my hair.

Once my sobs softened he placed both his hands on my shoulders, pushing me away from his chest. He removed his hands from my shoulders and I felt his hands at the back of my head fumbling with the knot in my blindfold. He eventually untied it and slowly removed the cloth from my eyes.

My eyes immediately met his. They were a piercing green, they were captivating. My eyes then scanned his curly hair, it looked messy and tamed at the same time, then I allowed my eyes to wonder to his full, soft, pink lips before adverting my gaze back to his eyes.

His eyes seemed to soften even more when he seen the tears in my eyes. He brought his hand up to caress my cheek. A shiver involuntarily ran down my spine. He never took his gaze off my eyes as he wiped my tears away with his thumb.

"Don't cry Jess." He softly cooed.

My heart leaped when he called me Jess, the way it rolled off his lips. His low, raspy voice.

He slowly stood up from the bed, my eyes following his every move.

"It's getting late. You need to rest. I'm gonna go now.." He spoke slightly louder while scratching the nape of his neck. "I'm right across the hall if you need anything."

I nodded slowly, not saying a word.

He walked over to the door and I couldn't help but take in his tall, well-built body. He opened the door but suddenly turned around.

"Goodnight Jess." He whispered. Then softly closed the door as he left.

I sat there. Just thinking. Completely dumbfounded.

What's going on? He kept saying I was safe now. Safe from what? He said he'd protect me, he even knew my name. He tried to comfort me. But I can't trust him. I don't know him. Suddenly the calm atmosphere in the room shifted. I found all these thoughts rushing through mind, already bringing on a headache. I felt my body kicking in to full survival mode.

I had to escape.
