"Mommy mommy!" I scream waking up in the middle of the night.

"What is it baby?" She asked rushing over to my side.

"My head feels hot, and my eyes are bothering me." I cry as I rub my eyes only making the burning worse.

"Oh come on let's see what we can do." She tells me after feeling my forehead. She grabs my hand and brings me out into the hallway.

"Where's daddy?" I ask not seeing him inside our room.

"He must be cheating again." I hear her mumble underneath her breath.

"What mommy?"

"Nothing."

We walk for a bit more until we arrive at a closed door. My mom knocks three times, in a sort of pattern. Then the door is opened to reveal a brown haired woman.

"Fever?" The woman asks as if it was the usual, same old news.

"Yes I'm sorry." My mother replies stepping in and picking me up. She placed me on a metal table. Then the woman who I didn't know at the time felt my head.

"It's recurrent for sure, I'll just be a minute." She says and then goes off into a separate room.

"Mommy what's going on?" I ask confused on why this happened so often.

"Your just a little too warm inside Maddie." She tells me brushing my face with her thumb.

"Isn't that better?" I ask curiously.

"Better than what?" She asked puzzled.

"Don't you usually say that daddy is stone cold? I thought being cold was a bad-"

" That bis say what!?" A voice boomed into the room making my head snap towards the door to see a bulky shadow.

"Luke, babe that's not what she meant-" My mother's shivering voice said, trying to cover the truth up.

"That's esactlyy what she mean." He continued to slur not making sense with his words.

He stomped towards my mom and the next thing I knew she was knocked out onto the floor. Then he got down and grabbed her hair making her yelp in pain.

"STOP STOP GET OFF OF HER!" I scream, feeling the burning tears make their way down my face. "DADDY STOP!" I get up from my table and stand up, too scared to try and pull him off of her.

"What's going on in-" The woman came out only to see my father on top of my mother hurting her. My mothers face was filled with terror as she looked my father straight in the face.

"Get out of my office RIGHT NOW!" The woman screamed at my father pointing towards the door. This caused my father's face to become even angrier. He raged with fury as he slowly rose up from my mother, releasing her hair from his firm grip. He inhaled and exhaled deeply as he made his way over to the woman.

"LUKE DON'T LAY A HAND ON HER!" My mom screamed struggling to get up.

My father was still approaching the woman until he was grabbed by the back and thrown away from her. I looked towards the hero, just seeing what looked like another guard but it was hard to tell since it was so dark and I didn't see the front of his uniform, just the back.

"Get out, now!" The new voice commanded my father, something I never knew I'd see.

My father just wobbled up and took a sloppy swing at the guy who ended up catching his fist, twisting it, and turning him around so the new guy was in total control, my father at his mercy.
