As I was deciding what to write inbetween part 1 and 2, I realised there were a whole bunch of characters and no easy way to reference who's who, so I'm making a list of all the characters introduced in part 1.
Of course, as this is a summary of part 1, please do not read it unless you mind spoilers for part 1 or have read up to chapter 26.
~Astaroth's side~
Astaroth (Overlord)
Notable skills: [Overlord's Authority], [True Demon Form]The main protagonist, who used to be a high school student before dying due to some unknown cause and being reincarnated by the Goddess of Light with only memories on certain subjects, such as video games or religion. For a while, he was a Hero of Light called Arthur, but after being saved by the Goddess of Darkness from the brink of death, he picked up the cloak of the Demon Master and the name Astaroth and took it upon himself to slay the Goddess of Light. He loves theatrics and being dramatic, so he takes any chance he can to act like a final boss, and he's ruthless to his enemies, although the Demon Generals don't hesitate to call him soft-hearted since he tries to avoid hurting innocents. He's got a sadistic streak, and even occasionally bullies--sorry, teases--the subject of his love, the Goddess of Darkness. Visually, he normally wears a black military uniform with white highlights and golden decorations, along with a number of medals, a black crown studded with blue jewels and a dark red cape. His hair is grey and his ears are pointed, and his left eye is golden while his right is black. It seems like Heroes don't always notice his golden eye, however. When compared to the start of the story, he has become slightly slimmer.
He's taken a few steps on the way towards becoming a Demon King, and also a few steps towards becoming a demi-god.
He currently possesses two fragments of divinity--a fragment of earth, from the Goddess of Earth, and an unknown fragment from the Goddess of Darkness neither party has any recollection of.
He currently possesses two Aspects, though they are co-owned by the Goddess of Darkness.
He can, to a small extent, communicate with and manipulate the world-managing system known as GAME.
Because of his personality and power, he's well-respected by everyone in the castle, and the Demons are very glad to have the privilege of eating in the same room as him (in reality, it's not like it bothers him.)
Demon Generals
Astaroth's most trusted aides, these 5 Demons are each strong enough to serve as a traditional 'final boss', though each in a different way.
Davna (Red Dragon)
Notable skills: [Dragon's glare], [Humanisation]One of the 5 Demon Generals, although she's only a juvenile, in her dragon form, Davna is over ten metres tall. Her scales are hard enough to deflect any regular sword, so she can only be harmed by magical weapons. Unlike most Monsters, Red Dragons do not evolve, instead gaining strength over time--as such, a completely matured Red Dragon would give even a god a hard fight. At her current age, Davna has enough physical strength to crush even a Hero underfoot without much trouble, and she has a Red Dragon's signature flame breath, too.
In her human form, through the skill [Humanisation], she looks like a child not older than 14 with red ankle-length hair and similarly-coloured eyes with split pupils. Instead of clothes, her entire body apart from her arms beyond her upper arms, her legs beneath her knees and everything above her neck is covered in red scales, there are two dark-red horns on her head and she has a thick, lizard-like tail. The scales act as a replacement for clothing.
She has a tendency to be overly cheerful, and views even the hardest fight as a hunt or playing, depending on the circumstances. Her favourite food is meat. She tends to get depressed when she can't fight for extended periods of time, or when she sees the others fight but can't participate: you could call her a battle junkie. Somehow, Astaroth is like a father figure to her. As a result, it's not weird if you're worried about her future.
Because of her liking of fights and her power, most of the soldiers have learned to fear her.
