Hello everyone, Astaroth here.
As you might expect, the demon country isn't exactly the most hospitable place for non-demons.
The sheer concentration of demons, strong and weak, and their mana causes miasma to form almost constantly--mostly in the form of clouds of it, but occasionally, it might become concentrated enough to form pools in its liquid form.
Given many of the more magically inclined and more powerful demons live in or around the castle, right at the centre of the country, the amount of these pools grows the further inward you go, and with that comes a decrease in normal flora and fauna.
Even further towards the border, in the forests, however, the trees usually take on a peculiar shade of purple as a result of miasma exposure, especially around the border forts.
"I'll... be watching, so, if you, need, my help, just say so. Ah, if, they're in, shrine maidens, you could, probably, use, [Excorcism], to get them, out."
I could tell from Lady Entropy's volume and her proximity to my ear that she had made herself invisible, so rather than give an audible reply, I nodded subtly and cleared my throat.
The noise caught the attention of practically everyone around.
"I don't think I need to remind you", I thus said, "but you should show the proper etiquette when meeting Lady Sylph and Lady Salamander."
I sent some particularly meaningful glances towards Asami, Davna and Navillus.
None of them seemed to notice.
Davna stretched her legs a few times, looking rather impatient.
"Can we just go already?", she asked, seeming only marginally less excited than when I'd asked her for a spar.
"Tempest, I leave the children's and Alpine's transport up to you", I said, nodding loosely in her direction.
She nodded back and walked up to them, casting a spell I recognised to belong to [Elemental Magic: Air]. The spell looked rather high-level, but I didn't recognise it.
"Then, we're heading out", I said, unfurling my wings and taking off.
Unlike last time, I stuck rather close to the ground, deftly dodging between the clouds of miasma as I attempted not to stray too far from Davna.
She noticed, and seemed to interpret it as a game--that was my interpretation of the erratic way she moved, abandoning the concept of a road entirely and running dangerously close to the edge of pools of concentrated miasma more than once, all the while still vaguely going in the intended direction.
I had to call out to her to prevent her from straying too far more often than I'd perhaps have liked.
After perhaps half an hour of chasing her like this, I eventually managed to catch her by the waist.
"Aw... You caught me..."
She seemed disproportionately disappointed, so I sent her a questioning glance as I positioned her under my arm and continued flying.
"I was hoping I'd at least be able to outspeed you, Master...", she explained.
"Hmm."
She seemed seriously disheartened, which I figured would get in the way of productivity.
"Well, don't worry about it", I thus said to her, "you're a Red Dragon. You'd have the right to be depressed about being outsped if you were a Green Dragon or a Blue Dragon, perhaps, but your strengths are size and power."
