THE KORA CHRONICLES: Her Chosen Fate

The Fall

Chaos was vividly wrecking all there was, we heard the screams and the shouts as we ran out of the dungeons past the river of dead bodies Mulan had left behind when she came down the passage
The whole castle shook.. War had already began
And we were at the heart of the problem itself
No more running and no more searching

The ground shook again.. He was closer than we thought
We took a sharp turn and as I was about to take the turn, I saw a silhouette of someone at the other side of the hall..

"Zara... Come... Quick we don't have time" Estevan urged me

I squinted and moved closer paying no heed to his urge
I saw the woman leaning close to the wall for support, she didn't seem like a threat.. I quickly made my way to her,

"hey" I offered my hand to her, when she held on to me she completely lost her balance and tumbled to the floor bringing me down with her

"Fiona??!" I gasped

Her hair was matted all over her face with all the sweat, she was heaving and her eyes looked dilated, she. Forced a painful smile.. My hands trembled as I placed her on my lap

"what.. Why.. How d-did this happen"
"she called to me.. I had to go save her.. I felt her the moment I got here... The dark Lord got me... But I managed to save her"

By the time she was explaining all that, the rest were standing right behind me

"her?? Who??" I asked

She took my hand in hers and placed on my palm a butterfly size fairy with violet wings

"oh my God!" I gasped
"she's beautiful isn't she??" she said putting on a smile
"Fiona i-"

Her violent coughs stopped me from speaking, I tried to hold her down as she coughed violently and blood got spurted on her chest and my laps

"I'm dying" she whispered
"no you are not... Look at me... We are going to save you.. We just need you to hold on"

She smiled at me.. I could see the amount of effort she was putting in just by smiling

"I named her Ziona" she said then coughed again

I frowned at the strange name, then my eyes watered when I realized she had clipped both our names and combined them to form her name

"you are not dying" I told her...

She unclasped her cloak with her free hand and revealed to us what was killing her slowly
On her chest... What was supposed to be flesh and bones
Was a huge hole... I turned away... Not able to look at the horror unfolding in my eyes for one more second

"Avenge my death, sister"

She coughed again... She whizzed and I heard a sharp intake of breathe then her chest... Or remains of it.. Slowly went down
I turned to see her face... And back at me stared lifeless glassy eyes... I closed  those lifeless eyes as bile rose in my throat

"Zara... It's time... Adrastia and Sonia will take it from here" Mulan said

There was no time to mourn, let alone saying my goodbyes

I stood up and and dropped the tiny fairy in Rosalind's hand, Sonia waved her hand and Fiona's body started floating, Adrastia opened a portal and all three of them walked through

A moment of silence passed by as we all acknowledged the death of Fiona

"we have to go" Luna spoke first breaking the icy silence

I nodded and we carried on with our trek towards the monster

The ground shook beneath our feet more violently throwing all of us off Our feet
