THE KORA CHRONICLES: Her Chosen Fate

Through all the anxiety and excitement.. I could not wait to get beyond those great walls.....we all had enough rest so that meant waking up when the sky was clear and the sun was high up in the sky....a beautiful day .....I secured my small leather bag on Lexy...everyone was busy getting ready....Jay and Mulan were having an early morning conversation again....the way he looked at her....I couldn't explain.... It's like the way he looked at ME....not like a Bestfriend but more than that....
I never imagined sharing Jay with someone else but apart of me was happy that he could finally love someone else other than me.....because I for one....was not ready to love him like the way he did me.....

"You saw that too??" Lucifera said as she pulled her horse next to mine

I turned to her and forced a smile trying to play dumb

"What"
"Oh.... Don't play dumb"
"I'm not playing dumb"
"Maybe you actually ARE dumb...." Luna butted in as she walked past us

Guess I was not the only one who noticed....Mulan seemed to like Jay but such a feeling must've been quite foreign for her....I mounted my horse and tightened my cloak around my neck

"Zara I think it's best if you disguise yourself....we don't want to catch attention" Mulan said

I frowned at her...then it clicked...because of the bond between my Koran self and my human self my eyes were a glittery golden fading blue.... Something that will probably raise suspicion
I raised my hood over my face covering my eyes completely... My hair was a mess and Lucifera had offered plaiting one long braid so it wouldn't look like a bird's nest....a warm shower would've done wonders...I couldn't wait to wash my hair....I peered under my hood...at least I could still see the way.....Mulan led the way into the stream ....the horses trotted into the stream of water....finally we were out of the water and we had started moving on dry land...the place was beautiful... I could not imagine a place like this ruled by darkness....it was too beautiful to be true.....Mulan was impatient now that the gates were on our sight....we raced towards the huge giant sized gates....
The guards got on their horses too and started moving towards us....their very sight creeping me  out.....
I held my breath as we met halfway to the gates
The one who led the way unmounted his horse and so did Mulan....he took off his helmet and he seemed like he was in his late twenties

"Fa Mulan"he said in his deep voice
"Captain" Mulan said equally

The "captain" looked at us...I could read a few of his expressions on his face when he looked at Luna who was plaiting her horse's mane...good lord....then at Jay...he frowned and looked startled...I would be surprised too...Jaibríl warriors finally recruiting male??...but surprise was not on his face....it was something unexplainable.... He looked at Me and I could tell he wanted to see what's behind the hood.. I kept my eyes down though I was sure he couldn't see me clearly
He looked at Lucifera and Flinched....Lucifera must've expected that because she gave him a very bright fake smile

"I assume it's matters of the state??" The captain said after his crosscheck
"You know well captain....the king is expecting us....."
"I'll send word immediately"

He walked back to his horse and swiftly hauled himself on top and they raced back.....Mulan got back on hers and we trotted far behind them....not in a hurry...we had all the time in the world....but then....we had no time at all

"Why did he look at Jay like that??" I asked impulsively
"Because his scent is different.... Other worldly" Mulan said
"Scent??"
"These are werewolf soldiers.... They pick up scents...well...they know he's not a vampire,a werewolf, nor a witch....or far off a shape shifter...."
"They must be pretty confused then"
"And curious" Lucifera added

Before we knew it we were at the gates...we were given passage right away as the gates were opened...the path that led to the palace was cobblestoned..there were people around..moving here and there...probably a lot of business going on.... The knew visitors caught their attention .....some stopped what they were doing and looked at us...but it didn't grow any silent...there were hens trapped in huge baskets huddled together fighting for space....goats moving around...donkeys..... This was probably the market where all trade took place....guards patrolled the area making sure there was no theft or any sort of violence...
Some people moved away at the sight of us...
