Story #14: The Convention

"Nelson, I have an announcement to make!" Jaiden yelled, walking into the room Nelson's in.

Nelson turned off the video game system, and faced Jaiden.

"What is it?" Nelson asked.

"I'm going to The Adventures of Lighting Man convention."

"Alright."

Nelson turned the console back on, and started to play video games again.

"Nelson, I want you to come with me."

Nelson froze.

"You mean I can come with you in a convention!?" Nelson asked, throwing his video game controller threw the wall.

"Yeah. I thought we could use the bonding," Jaiden explained.

"I'll pack my bread!"

Nelson was well on his way to his room when Jaiden said,

"Not today, Nelp."

Nelson stopped dead in his tracks.

"You trying to kill me?" Nelson asked, actually getting scared.

"There's a surprise food there that I want you to try."

"Surprise food? That sounds surprising."

"Come on."

Nelson reached for the door knob. a voice from the kitchen asked,

"Hey, Nelson, Jaiden. Where are you going?"

"Oh! Pamela! I'm taking Nelson to his first convention."

"Yeah, it's going to be great! I've been waiting to get an opportunity to go to one of these!" Nelson added.

Jaiden and Nelson high fived.

"A convention?" Pamela asked, taking another bite of her bread, "can I come?"

Jaiden looked at Nelson.

"Well, I was hoping this could be a good bonding experience," Jaiden explained.

"Oh! Sorry, I didn't know. Go ahead."

Nelson looked at Jaiden. Nelson gave him the "eyes". The eyes that meant he should invite her to come.

Jaiden gave Nelson the other "eyes". Those eyes meant "are you sure?". Nelson nodded.

Before Pamela entered the dining room, Jaiden stopped her.

"Pamela, you can come."

"Really?! Are you sure?" Pamela asked, dropping her loaf of bread.

Before Pamela could pick it back up, Nelson swooped in, and grabbed it with his mouth.

"Yeah. Why not bond with our roommate? Right?"

Nelson swallowed the loaf whole.

"Right," She replied.

"No smooching," Nelson joked, licking his paws.

"Nelson!" Jaiden and Pamela both yelled of embarrassment.

"Just sayin'."

So Jaiden, Nelson, and Pamela went out to Jaiden's white sedan.

"Before we go, I need to tell you guys that we will be taking a few stops," Jaiden informed.

"Stops? What kind of stops?" Pamela asked.

"Bathroom stop," Nelson answered.

"No. Stops to costume stores. Whenever you go to a fan convention, you need costumes. You'll look like a first class person if you don't."
