"Have a good night (Y/N)! Thank you for your help!" My manager bowed to me with a bursting shine of gratitude as I walked away from the now closed cafe after my very busy shift.
"See you tomorrow Hoseok and be sure to get home safe!" I shouted to him as I turned the corner of the street and started walking back toward my apartment.
I looked around at the same view that I was always accustomed to, but I always managed to find something new about it. Wether it was a new flower that has bloomed or a new cat on the block, I was always aware of my surroundings no matter where I was.
"Hello everyone, have you had a good night?" I said as I retrieved the bottle of milk from my handbag and knelt down to the bowl that I had placed at the entrance of the alleyway so that I could feed the stray cats of the neighbourhood. The regular four cats appeared around the bowl, but I was surprised to see that there was a new one at the bowl tonight.
"Poor things," I whispered as I remained crouched down beside them with a small pout, "I wish my apartment allowed pets. I'd take you all in and give you a nice home. But for now I'll keep giving you milk every night!" I quietly stood up from my crouch while the cats lapped up the milk with glee.
"Noona!" A familiar voice called from behind me.
I turned my head back and gave a small wave as I realised it was my neighbour, Park Jimin, who was jogging to attempt to catch up to me from his shift at the restaurant he worked at. Usually we walked home with one another, or caught up with each other on the way.
Jimin liked to walk with me because somehow I always managed to nearly get into dangerous situations. Just last week I was almost run over by a car, but luckily I was able to shield myself behind a street post which miraculously stopped the passenger-less car.
"How was work Jimin-ssi?" I addressed the younger, pink-haired male with a soft smile as he had finally caught up to me. He gently puffed his cheeks as we began walking along with one another to our apartment building. Jimin lived on the apartment above mine, and sometimes came over to visit if I wasn't working or we were both free.
"It was busy. How was the cafe today?" He inquired as he adjusted his bag strap before tucking his hands into the pockets of his jacket as we continued to walk.
"The cafe was busy as well. I made a few people smile today which was nice," I paused and stood up on the curb as I balanced along it as I walked along. I was also being sure there were no cars around, "a homeless man came in and asked one of my
co-workers if he could have some food even though he has no money.""What did your co-worker say?" Jimin asked as he listened to my recollection.
"She said no and walked away but I went out from the counter and told him that if he hung around for fifteen minutes I could buy him a nice meal for his lunch and I would then pay for him to take a bus to the homeless shelter. The closest one is about ten kilometres away and I didn't want him to have to keep coming into shops and being rejected."
Jimin let out a small sigh as he shook his head slowly before looking to me with a smile, "you've got a heart of gold, Noona. This world is lucky to have someone as generous as you in it."
I looked to the ground with a small grin as I attempted to hide my excitement from his compliment as we approached the apartment building.
"I'm very tired though and I'm ready to go to bed." I admitted to Jimin who chuckled as he retrieved his keys once we reached the steps to the front door of the building.
"Being that nice must take it out of you." He states as he walked up the steps and unlocked the door. I went to follow him but was stopped as I heard a very loud thud in the alleyway beside our building. I pressed my palms to the rails and attempted to look down the dark alley.
"Did you hear that?!" I cried out to Jimin who looked to me with a confused expression as he studied my shocked expression while my eyes searched for answers as to what the noise was.
"No?" Jimin asked as he took a step down, "you must be hearing things."
I shook my head as my hand gingerly ran over the goosebumps on my skin. There was just no way that the noise was just my imagination.
"You go inside. I'm going to have a quick look." I told Jimin as I retrieved my phone from my bag and turned on its flashlight as I carefully proceeded down the stairs. Jimin looked like he didn't want to leave, but I knew he needed his rest for his very long shift tomorrow so I encouraged him once more.
"If anything happens I'll scream at the top of my lungs. I'll be fine. I'll see you tomorrow Jimin-ssi." I turned away before he could protest my choice, and listened as he closed the door behind him.
I shone the light towards the large dumpster where I was sure the noise came from. As I approached it, I listened to the rummaging of something big from inside it.
"Hello? Is someone there?" I asked as I slowly crept toward the dumpster.
"Be an Angel they said," I heard mumbling from within the dumpster as something shifted within it, "it'll be fun they said."
"Hello? I'm Kang (Y/N), do you need help?" I asked as I shone the light into the dumpster, shocked to the core as I discovered just what had made the noise as it shouted at me in shock while I was staring with wide eyes as I had uncovered a man with a pair of wings sprouting from his back with his body draped in robes.
"YOUR AURA IS BLINDING!" He shouted as he shielded his eyes from my flashlight, apparently mistaking it for something else.
