"Y-You've got wings!" I shouted at the strange creature who cowered beneath my blinding flashlight, which he addressed as an 'aura'.

"I've lost my vision!" It shouted back, causing me to snap out of my haze as I quickly shut of my phone's flashlight and started apologising.

"I'm sorry," I began as I watched the creature sit up in the dumpster as it rubbed its eyes to adjust to its surroundings, "it was just my flashlight!"

"I'm not sure I even want to know what that is." The creature said as it removed its hands from its face. It was then that I saw the winged-creature was actually a very, very, handsome winged-man. His eyes seemed to sparkle within the dumpster trash as he looked up to me with wide eyes.

Before I could say another word, he jumped from the dumpster and landed in front of me with a 'thud'. He stood tall as he brushed down his robes before looking at me with wide eyes.

"Fascinating," He whispered as he pushed my hair back and revealed my ears. His elf-like ones twitched as he examined them with such interest that I found it uncomfortable, "your little mortal ears are so alien-like!"

"YOU'VE GOT WINGS!" I shouted as I swatted the strangers hands away. He blinked blankly before shaking his head.

"Ah yes, I can imagine that this is very confusing for you. Allow me to explain just what I am." The winged-man crossed his arms as he went through an in-depth explanation.

"You see I was sent from the heavens down to this earth to provide you with protection. I am an angel, you may call me Seokjin or just Jin."

"Ok, 'just Jin'." I used air quotes before asking my question, "why are you here to protect me? And what is that whole 'aura' thing you were going on about?"

Jin sighed before rubbing his neck as he continued to speak,

"I'm here to protect you because you are the mortal that fits the description of a powerful prophecy that was placed by the gods since the beginning of time. You see, there is this thing called 'the light' and it flows through all the good people in this world,"

"But for you especially, you have an unimaginable amount of light inside your heart which is because you are pure and kind to every mortal or creature that crosses your path. We call your light the 'Aura'. As for why I am protecting you,"

Jin paused as his ears quivered an he quickly grabbed my wrist as he pulled me behind him so I was out in the street lights while he quickly pushed me up my apartment steps.

"I'll tell you once we are in the safety of your mansion. Now quickly!" Jin shouted, obviously worried about something that was back in that dark alley way. I did as the angel ordered and retrieved my keys before unlocking the first door and stepping inside with Jin quick to duck in behind me and push the door shut.

As I put my keys away, Jin stared in awe at the hallways and elevators in the building, "you must be a wealthy mortal to be able to live in such a unique mansion."

I chuckled before walking with Jin towards the elevator doors, pushing the third-floor button and waiting for the elevator to arrive.

"This isn't my mansion, these are apartments. All kinds of people can live in the rooms." As the bell dinged and the doors opened, Jin jumped back and landed into a strong stance as he was prepared to attack the foreign machine.

"Get back fiend!" He shouted as he rocked back and forth on his heels with his fists raised. I gently pushed down his fists and pulled him into the elevator with me as I pressed on the third floor once more and the doors shut. I thought it would be much simpler, but Jin began to freak out.

"We have been swallowed!" He shouted as he fell to his knees and placed his face into his hands, "I'm only a thousand and twenty-six years old! I still have so much life to have lived-"

"Relax," I whispered to him carefully as I placed my hand to his shoulder and attempted to soothe the jumpy male, "this is an elevator and it takes us to higher parts of the buildings if we need to go there."

As the door opened, I gently pulled Jin up from the ground and pushed him gently out of the elevator and towards my apartment. I looked to his wings with a face of concern as I realised that one of them was slightly crooked.

"What has happened to your wing?" I asked him as we stopped at my apartment and I began opening the door. Jin gently looked back at his injured wing and frowned, causing his elf-like ears to slight fold back.

"I tried to slow down my descend from the heavens, but alas, the winds were too strong for my wings to handle. I believe that the branch is broken." He said as he studied the injury.

I opened the door to my apartment and walked him inside before locking the door behind me and sighing as I studied Jin's wing. "Maybe if I have a look at how to mend a birds wing I might be able to help you out with it."

"Ah, you really are the shrouded one. So kind and caring towards a winged creature that she discovered in a dumpster." Jin chuckled to himself, causing a small squeak from his throat while I scrolled through articles on google.

"While I mend your wing," i said as I retrieved some bandage and sat Jin down at my kitchen table while I sat on the bench-top to be able to mend his wing in a more comfortable way, "you can go into more depth as to why you have to protect me."
