Victoria
Sometime in the Sixteenth Century, France
"Lady Ana, your innocence, taken by a man in court!" I was one of Lady Ana's chambermaids, but we had become close friends.
"Victoria, we're of age. If I don't wed, my father will personally take my inheritance away." She took my hands in her own and spun in a tight circle.
"My lady, no matter how much money he takes away from you, your family will be one of the richest in the world."
"But Doña Ana de Castillo would not be, and suitors look for the fortune that can be gained." She let go of me and fell backward onto her vanity chair.
"The men would be missing out if they passed up a lady, of age, with a noble title." There was a silence between us as I cleaned up her bed.
"Victoria, would you stay with me forever if you were given the chance?" She spoke softly and looked at herself in the mirror. Her long hair was pinned perfectly behind her head. She had these dark green eyes and shiny dark blonde hair. She looked so perfectly focused and she stared at me in the reflection on the glass.
"I suppose so, but such an idea is impossible. Eventually, you will marry some Lord and continue your beautiful life." I sat down gently on her bed, feeling the duvet between my fingers. "And I will remain here."
"My Victoria, it's not impossible."
I turned over my shoulder, "I do not understand, my lady."
"Stand up."
I played along and stood up. I turned around slowly to be met by Ana's eyes staring deeply into mine. "Ana, how did you get here so fast?" She was across the room mere moments ago.
Ana started to approach me and it seemed like her teeth started to grow and sharpen.
"Stay with me forever, Victoria." Her eyes turned from their normal green color into a terrifying red. She unhinged her jaw and ripped into my neck and chest. With a fierceness so quick I was unable to scream.
Ten Years Ago
I awoke inside a box. I was starving--no, thirsty. It was a thirst that ran down my tongue and ripped against my throat. I started to panic, and something in me snapped. I broke out of my wooden cage and tore through the ground. I arose with my fangs out and the world looked very different than I remembered. Ana. My memories clicked of everything that had happened. There were tall buildings formed out of flat stones, the air smelled weird, and the sun was brighter than before. I could smell people walking on the other side of wherever I was. Arched stones had letters carved in them. Melanie Fisher, the one I arose from said.
"Hello, do you need help, dear?" Someone had snuck up on me. I jumped back the length of several yards. It was strange to be up and moving. I breathed deeply and let the air fill my lungs. The person stood there with terror gleaming in her eyes. I took one step forward and sped all the way to her feet. I stumbled and braced myself against her.
"What are you?" She screamed but I held onto her tightly.
I could smell her and she smelled delicious, and before I knew what happened I had my fangs in her neck.
Casper
Today
"Casper, did you hear about those crazy animal attacks? What animal leaves their victims ripped to shreds with a very small amount of their blood? Don't your parents deal with stuff like that?" My best friend Jacob was hanging out at my house.
