As Sarah Takes Casper
Moore approached me and lifted my body from the ground.
"You kept me waiting," I laughed and blood came out of my mouth.
He picked me up and thrashed me into a tree.
My body cracked the wood and blood came shooting out of my mouth.
"You promised you'd never come back here!"
"I would be quieter if I were you." I motioned my head to a werewolf standing not three feet from us.
He put a fist against my chest. "What stops me from tearing your heart out of your chest?" He pushed his fist into my chest, and I could feel my ribs breaking.
I smashed my teeth together and tried to fight back, but the pain was so strong, I could not grow out my fangs.
He let go of my neck but still held me to the tree with his fist. "I told you never to come here." The quieter he talked, the deeper his voice sounded.
"I was with Casper when he got the call, and the wizard who attacked here is a mutual enemy."
He removed his fist, and I crumpled to the ground.
"You will forget you ever found this place!"
"How am I supposed to do that?" My voice was hoarse but the sarcasm still came through.
"Maybe ask Ana."
"You should not know that name." I curved my eyebrows in anger.
He bent down and picked my head up with my hair. "You don't know half the things she does."
Moore left me on the ground, heaving. I felt something. Fear? I was not afraid of anyone. What was going on with me? I did not fear. I grabbed a fistful of dirt and threw it, rolling myself over, moaning softly.
I hobbled myself into the cabin where Casper was. The roof was seared, and one wall was half gone, singed by a flame. Casper sat shirtless on a table, bandages wrapped tightly around his ribs.
Brooklyn lay on the bed next to him. She had bruises on her arms and held an ice pack to her ankle. Jacob was nowhere to be found, but I was sure he would be coming to see them later.
I smiled and examined Casper. Werewolf medicine was strong enough, he was going to be just fine. I stared at the muscles on his arms and how much he had changed since I had met him.
He looked up sharply, just noticing my entrance.
"If you are going to do this I'm not going to be here." Brooklyn was waving her arms and shaking her head. She got up out of her chair and hobbled off.
Casper and I burst out into laughter. Casper got up and groaned as his chest moved. He extended his arm to grab his shirt, but it hurt too much and instead held his side.
"Let me get it" I sped from the door to his shirt. Once I grabbed the shirt, I collapsed and put my hand to my chest.
"Are you okay?"
"Y-yes. Cracking a tree with your body does not feel well."
"He really threw you around out there. I've never seen anyone do that." He watched me as I rolled his shirt up.
"Lift."
He lifted his arms slowly to bring as little pain as possible. I pulled his shirt over his arms and brought it down over his head. His messy brown hair fell into his eyes that looked back at me. We lingered there for a moment before I took a step back. I wished I could have felt something. It was not what I knew Casper was feeling because his heart was beating so fast. Instead, I felt empty. I took an even larger step back and looked at him. His bandages were sticking out of his shirt and his pants pocket was turned inside out.
