Casper
Learning of Blood Moons
I flipped through the pages, soaking up what I could.

Blood Moon: Also known as harvest moons, happen when there is a total lunar eclipse, meaning, blah, blah, werewolves, vampires, and some other supernatural creatures are affected until the next sunrise. Sunrise, to clarify, the moment the moon is no longer visible from the horizon line and the sun has began to peak over. I put the book down, hearing a knock on my door.

"Casper!"

Victoria! I jumped off the loft ladder and ran to the door. I ripped it open, and I hugged the person standing there.

"I think you meant to hug that one!" I leaned back and jumped back from Brooklyn. I hugged the correct girl.

"Is Jacob here?" Victoria leaned into my house, looking around for him.

"No?"

"Okay, then I will see you later, Casper." Victoria turned her back and sped away.

"Brooklyn, would you like to explain what just happened?"

"It was a massacre." I moved out of Brooklyn's way, and we went into my house together.
"Where are your parents? They're still gone?"

"Most of my childhood they've been gone hunting something. I don't care as long as food's on my table." I changed the conversation before Brooklyn asked about it. "Can we go back to the fact that you just mentioned a mass killing of people?" I lead her into the kitchen.

"They killed a hundred werewolves in almost a week, Casper. Their clan leader, Mary-"

"Mary? Remember when Victoria was having flashbacks? That was the name she called out when you fought her." I handed her a soda from my fridge.

"Why would she kill the one she's loyal to?" Brooklyn pondered her own question. "The leader of the London Branch," Brooklyn clarified, "London branch. Casper, if Mary was the leader of the London branch, then who was the leader of the American branch? Brooklyn suddenly gasped. "Ana." She whispered a girl's name and then slammed her soda can down and ran to the door.

"Brooklyn, where are you going?"

"The library!" She slammed my door.

I sighed and drank my cola.

Night
Sunrise, to clarify, meaning the moment the moon is no longer visible from the horizon line and the sun has began to peak over the horizon. I skimmed to where I was before. Werewolves are affected as a normal full moon, except this moon can happen on any of the full moon days. Vampires lose their powers but regain it the next day. Vampires can become human? How is that possible? The blood moon was tomorrow night. I slammed the book shut and grabbed my car keys.

I parked my car outside Victoria's apartment. "Fisher!" It was dusk, and a blue tint spread over everything like a flourescent canvas. "Victoria!" I banged my hand on her door. "Vic-"

Her door flung open. "What?"

"The blood moon is tomorrow night."

"I know."

"Don't worry, it will be- what?"

"Casper," she put her hand on my shoulder, "calm down. I track the blood moons. It is the reason I was not going to stay in London another day."

"You were planning this the entire time?"

"No, not initially. Once I was captured and almost killed though, I knew I had to escape before I did not have the power to." I felt a gust a wind and saw Victoria now had a cup in her hand with a purple straw sticking out of it.
