Casper
One Day Later
"Has anyone found any mention of Victoria in the literal hundreds of books and journals my family has gathered over time?" I shouted to the three others scattered around my house.
No one responded. Great. I flipped through a journal written by a vampire. It had a piece of tape placed on the cover placing it about 500 years ago. I couldn't read any of it because it was in French, but it was signed VAL.
"Casper!" My reading was interrupted by Andrew shouting for me. "Casper, would this be anything?" I closed the journal. "I was skimming these books, and there is a Victoria mentioned. Sadly, there is no last name.
I grabbed the book from him, "No, this is about Queen Victoria being a werewolf. I'm sorry, Andrew." I passed it back to him. "Come on, guys. There isn't much time to save her, and now that it's not the weekend, we can only look after school."
Jacob was reading slowly for someone with enhanced speed. Brooklyn was using magic to read several books at once, mumbling Latin and other words as she read.
"Okay, maybe we should call it a night. It's late, and I have homework." No one reacted. "Also, my dad should be coming home soon."
Brooklyn's floating books fell open to the ground. "Maybe we should call it a night. Goodnight." She disappeared, leaving all the books she was reading suddenly magically compiled into two stacks.
"Yeah, I should go, too." Andrew sped around, cleaning all the books up and then jumping out of the window with a quick wave.
"Well, I'm staying here for the night." Jacob laid a book over his eyes and folded his hands on his chest, "Night."
I laughed at him and checked my clock. I still had to do homework for class. I turned on my table lamp and pulled out my notebooks.
The Beginning of Class
"Casper?" Mr. Owensby pulled me before after class. "Has Victoria talked to you about where she is? Her family hasn't called about her absence."
"Yeah, she felt sick on Saturday. I assume she's just stuck at home sick," I quickly lied to him, "I can try and get a hold of her if you'd like."
"No, take your seat."
Jacob was already at his seat when I turned around. I sat next to him. "What was that about?"
Mr. Owensby started teaching, and I tapped my ear. Jacob got the message, and I relayed what Mr. Owensby had said about Victoria in a whisper so quiet only Jacob could hear. He nodded to me after I finished. I looked around for a few moments to make sure that no one was listening, even if they could barely hear me.
"I think I might know what clan Victoria is in."
I looked at Jacob to make sure he was still listening, and he traced the letters G-O on his desk.
"There were several journals written under the same name: VAL. She had mentioned the Blood Moon clan several times before I realized that VAL isn't a name. They're initials." I had really captured Jacob's attention. "Victoria A. Langley."
He traced an A with a question mark following it.
"I don't know. Anne or something! We need to get to the Blood Moon clan." The volume of my voice raised, and I calmed myself back down.
Jacob traced a huge N-O on the desk.
"Jacob, we have to figure out how to get to Victoria."
He traced the same N-O but with more circles as o's following after it.
