Monday
I was sitting in first period. Mr. Owensby was talking a lot about something that involved more letters than numbers. Mom and Dad made me wear a hoodie so no one would see my bandages, but it was unnaturally warm outside and I was very, very warm.
However, they understood why I went to the pack, but my dad skipped the boring parts of self-defense and took a faster pace with the punching and throwing. He wanted to begin teaching me types that deal with more holds and punches and efficient decapitation. He said we'd start practicing again once my ribs had healed. Until then, we were focusing on the classification of supernatural characters. At this point in my life, I would go to school, then I would go home and be taught the weaknesses of all supernatural creatures.
Some kid in the back of the class was flipping his water bottle annoyingly, and I looked at Jacob's face. He was visibly annoyed. He held his head and mouthed to me, 'What the hell.' I held my laughter down.
Victoria was put across the room with the bottle-flipping boy. I looked at her, and she was drawing something on today's notes. The bell rang, and it messed up the shaggy-haired boy's bottle flip, and he cursed as it landed on its side and rolled away. Victoria picked it up and flipped it back to him. It landed on his desk perfectly. The boy looked back at her with a stupid look on his face. She tried not to show it, but I knew she liked showing off.
We met outside the door after class.
"Do you think Brooklyn will meet us for lunch?" Jacob asked.
"I do not see why she would not be here." Victoria laughed to herself.
"You left, but it was super cool Brooklyn was magically rebuilding things, and the pack honestly looks better than before you guys came." Jacob stopped moving, "And before Vittorio attacked with all the other supernaturals."
"I am sorry, Jacob, but we will stop him," I reassured him.
Victoria turned away from us and watched the ground as we walked.
"This is where I don't see you until P.E. I bid you adieu." I did a fake bow to her, and she waved goodbye to us.
"Why does she even go to that class? Is it just to look cute in gym clothes?" Jacob rolled his eyes.
"So you do think she is cute." I mocked him.
He groaned. "I'm sure she thinks she is."
We parted, and I entered my class where Mrs. Brunswick began calling roll prematurely at the bell. It went from Aaron to West, but there was one name that I didn't recognize during roll: Ellsworth.
"Class," Mrs. Brunswick addressed us, "We have a new student today. This is Maeve Ellsworth."
A girl with peachy red hair and a nice smile stood up.
"Please give her a nice school welcome."
The class started clapping slowly, and the class president stood up to welcome her.
She looked somewhat out of place. She wore a cute dress with strawberries on it and high boots. She waved shyly, and for a moment, it looked like there was a weird hue to her eyes.
"Okay. Now back to this great thing called gravity."
I kept staring at Maeve throughout the class. Something about her shook me and even when the bell rang, it took me a couple minutes to focus and start packing up.
Locker-Rooms
As much as I hated gym, it was one of the parts of the day where I was able to see Victoria. I managed to sneak into the girl's locker room, so I could talk to her."
