Victoria
That Morning
I tenderly traced the scars from my most recent punishment. I hated being Vittorio's minion; Dante must to, if there is any of him left."Victoria!" Vittorio called for me, and I climbed down from the roof and into the house. "Do you see what I see?" He waved me over, and I apprehensively came up to him. "Look." He grabbed my head and jerked it. I gasped, taking in as much air as I could, and I suddenly was looking at the wolf pack, charging through the forest.
"Where is this?"
"About a mile from here."
"How long until they find us?"
"Once I take the force field down, not long." He let go of my head, and I was once again looking at a bookshelf.
"Why would you take down the force field?"
"So they can find us." He did not say anything else, so I started to walk away. "Oh, and Victoria, you're not welcome inside anymore." I suddenly felt a burning on my skin, and I sped out of the house.
I fell into my knees and seethed in pain. "Why did you do that?"
Vittorio appeared next to me. "You're bait, of course"
I took a step forward and felt the sizzle on the tips of my toes. Bitch. I sat against the wall and waited.
A Few Hours Later
The weather was not great outside, and I hated that Vittorio had done this to me. I rubbed my arms to warm myself up. I looked about and closed my eyes."Visus procul." I watched the wolves waiting. I opened my eyes and stood up. I knew those forests.
I heard a howl and whipped out my nails. I hissed at them and watched wolves run at me. I now know why they were waiting. I had expected half-wolves to be hunting me, but large wolves came bolting up the hill. Shit. The only way for non-alphas to become wolves without a full moon is a special serum which takes about the exact amount time I was waiting to take effect. That figures.
I jumped over the heads, and tails, of the first wolves. They went crashing into the house, and I hit the ground and slid. I held my ankle after the bad landing. I jumped up, this is no time for pain, I thought. A wolf jumped at me and I barely I grabbed their top and bottom jaw. They fought against my grasp to close his mouth, and I threw him into a group of their comrades. I then ran. I sprinted into the forest and jumped into a tree and disappeared. I watched the wolves sniff around the ground. A few looked up, but as they were almost colorblind, I went undetected.
I waited until they scattered into smaller groups. They were smoking me out. Wolves were amazing at cooperation, especially when hunting. I reached for my phone, wanting to call my friends, when I realized I was alone.
I skipped across branches, yards above their heads. I caught one group who had traveled a fair distance from the others and jumped down upon the farthest wolf. They whimpered as I brought them to the ground. I dodged the teeth of another and sent him flying into the ground. I was bit from behind and knocked to the forest floor. I grabbed them by their ears and flung them over my head. The other wolves heard the fighting and started charging. There were way too many.
I jumped into the trees again. I slumped against the trunk and held my shoulder. The best idea I had was to run. I sped across the tree limbs and back to the mansion.
I pounded on the door, "I am going to die out here!" I touched the door handle, and it burned me. I fell to the the ground and groaned.
"Victoria?" I looked up, and Brooklyn was floating a few feet away.
"Don't you hate me, too?" A screech came from inside the house, and Dante came bursting out the window and scratched Brooklyn on the forehead. She flew backward and shot fire at him.
"Wait, that's Dante!" I held out my hand, "Rigescunt indutae!" The fireballs turned to ice and shattered when they fell to the ground.
"Well, that was a surprise." Vittorio floated out of the broken window. "Maybe you're smarter than I thought."
"Vittorio, you asshat!" I screamed up at him. "Brooklyn," I looked to her, "find Casper!" She disappeared. I kicked at Vittorio, and he laughed.
"What are you going to do, Victoria? It's a hundred to one."
I smiled, "Oh, I am not alone." I shouted as loud as I could, "Ana!" I waited. "Ana!" Nothing. I thought she would have been there.
"Did your queen fail you?"
I shook my head. She could not have. "Ana!" I screamed as loud at I could. No matter what happened, she would always be there for me.
Vittorio burst out laughing, "This is embarrassing to watch."
Just then, Ayesha jumped off the roof of the house, landing on Vittorio's back. She bit him, and he threw her off like a wet rag. Ana and the members of the Blood Moon sped up and stood next to me. The wolves came charging out of the forest, and there it was, the war he had always wanted.
Fighting
I hissed and threw one of the wolves over my shoulder. I fell to the ground. This was exhausting. I didn't know how much longer I could do this. I then heard the familiar sound of a motorcycle. Casper? The motorcycle skid to a stop, and Casper came running and went straight into the house. I ran after him but stopped in the doorway."Casper?"
"I'm not here for you!" He picked up his wand and slid it in his belt.
"But you are here?" I shouted into the house for him.
He ran up to the door and stopped. "Why-"
"He uninvited me in."
"Huh." Casper ran back to his bike, and I saw Maeve on the back. She looked at me, and her face turned red.
"Maeve." I stared at her strawberry blonde visage.
"Hey!" Casper stepped in front of me, "You're not friends."
I looked away, "Fine." Jacob came running up and could not even look at me. "Casper, I know we are not friends, but there is an evil wizard who is kicking our asses."
Brooklyn appeared magically and handed something to Maeve, "Drink up." Maeve chugged it, and her eyes dilated.
"What was that?"
"Why do you care? It's not like you can fall in love." Casper glared at me.
"Fuck you," I pushed him with one swift hand movement, and he fell into his bike.
"Can we fight them instead of each other?" Brooklyn played crowd control. Casper and I looked at each other having a mutual understanding.
We all lined up: Jacob the half-wolf, Brooklyn the witch bitch, Maeve the screamless banshee, and Casper the non-killing Clyde. We must have looked like a superhero team all in a line like this.
