RILEY'S POV
I woke up and saw that Donovan made breakfast, then he even served me. After eating, we decided to go snowboarding since we both knew how to, but on our last run down the mountain, the idiot injured his ankle. I helped him limp over to a ski lift and after a while, we made it back to the cabin."Fuck!" He groaned in pain.
"You wanted to be a show off." I scolded as I tried to help him.
"No I didn't."
"You did. Let me see the ankle."
"I'm fine." He stubbornly insisted.
"No you're not." I sighed.
"Yes I am! God, stop being so annoying, Riley!" He snapped.
"What the fuck is your problem?" I yelled.
"Your attitude! I'm trying to make things bearable and you won't even attempt to be civil!"
"I'm trying right now, aren't I?" I retaliated.
"Just get the fuck away from me!"
"Fine!" I yelled.
I put my coat and boots back on, then headed for the door.
"Where are you going?" He sighed.
"Out." I bit.
DONOVAN'S POV
I watched TV, to calm down, after Riley left and limped around the cabin until my ankle felt better, then ran back to the TV when the weather came on."There's a blizzard occurring, so stay indoors everyone. We predict we'll be snowed in so stay safe and stay warm." The reporter said.
"Shit!" I yelled since Riley still wasn't back.
I opened the door in hopes of finding her there but was blasted with a gust of snowy wind. I quickly got dressed and headed out to look for her, hoping that she was okay. It was freezing and I could barely see, plus the snow was building up as I went along, after a while, I started to panic because I couldn't find her.
"Riley?" I called repeatedly.
After a few minutes of calling her name, I heard a loud snap and a scream, then followed it.
"Riley?"
"Over here!"
I found her laying down, almost buried in snow, then noticed a fallen tree on her.
"I can't move it."
I pushed it off as quickly as I could, then picked her up.
"Are you hurt?" I asked.
"No." She said as I put her down.
"Come on."
I grabbed her hand and somehow, we found our way back to the cabin. We had to dig through some snow, but eventually, we were able to open the door and stumbled in.
"Thank you." She panted.
"Don't storm off like that."
After we peeled off our snow covered clothing, I noticed her shaking and she seemed pale. When I touched her, she felt like ice and flinched.
"Let me give you one of my shirts." I offered.
"No thanks."
"Something tells me that your clothes won't warm you up."
"Fine." She gave in.
I got her a sweatshirt, then she went to her room to change and came out in my sweatshirt and sweatpants. Since she was still pale and shivering, I lit the fireplace as she made hot chocolate and turned up the heat.
"Thanks again." She quietly said as she handed me a mug.
"Don't mention it. Just don't run off like that, I still have to marry you someday." I smiled.
"True." She giggled.
"Preferably in one piece too." I added with a chuckle.
We both laughed, then she suddenly became quiet.
"I'm sorry." She said.
"Huh?"
"I've been such a cunt to you... I'm sorry."
"It's alright."
"No, it's not, you saved me, even after I was being a serious bitch. And you're right, I'm gonna have to marry you... I should at least try to make it work."
"Really?" I asked in shock.
"Really."
"Let's just try to be friends at least."
"It's a plan."
She sat down next to me in front of the fireplace and for the first time in a long time, she seemed genuinely friendly towards me.
"This shirt is actually pretty comfy." She blushed.
"You can keep it if you want."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah, sure."
"Thank you." She smiled.
