chapter 24

"I have my phone all charged up!" Amy said as I walked into the living room.

"I will do my best to video chat with you, do you have any questions you want to ask her?"

"Does she hate me?"

"I know the answer to that one but I will ask it." I leaned down and kissed her forehead. "I will be back."

"See you!" Tyler and Ethan said.

"See ya!"

I left the apartment heading to the park, when I got there I found a spot and walked to the main eating area. It didn't take long for her to show,

"Officer Mark?" She asked.

I stood up and shook her hand.

"Hello, how are you?"

We sat down.

"Thank you for calling me, anything you need to know I will tell you. Thank you for keeping her safe."

"Ma'am your daughter has gone through hell and back. What I am about to tell you is not going to be easy to hear."

"That's okay, as long as she is safe now."

"Yes, she is 100% safe. I promise you that. I found your daughter on a sex slave trading site."

Her face went pale.

"This is the biggest case I have been assigned too so they gave me help, they gave me some websites but they didn't think I would look at them so soon so they left her on them. Something about the picture made me know in my soul that I needed to save her. When I told them that she was the first one to be saved they helped but once she was with me they hurt her. when I found out about it they denied it but I knew she wasn't lying. they had me go save another person, while I was out they re-kidnapped her and hurt her really bad. We got her back but that's when we learned that not everyone is on the same side. She is in a new area that only myself and three other people know. It is better this way."

She was trying to fight the tears but she lost, I handed her a tissue from my pocket.

"Thank you." She wiped her eyes. "Every year I go on tv hoping someone has seen her and these cops have. They have seen all of her and they don't say a word. Thank you. Thank you for not being like them."

"It disgusts me that they have taken advantage of their badges and your daughter. A lot of the cops quit when they found out that I was working on the case. We didn't understand why at the time but now we know why."

"How is she with everything?"

"It is a long process of healing for her to go back to normal, she has a lot of flashbacks and nightmares that she is still there. Most of the scars have healed. she keeps a journal of everything that she wants to say but is scared to say it. this is actually something she wrote last night when I told her that she can't meet you until Jorden, the one behind all of this, is caught."

I pulled my phone out and showed her the picture,

They don't get it, they grew up with their parents. They still talk to them. My last conversation with my mom was me telling her how much I hate her because she wouldn't let me go out. I yelled at her and then snuck out and went. I felt bad for yelling at her so I was trying to come home and that's when I was kidnapped. If I just listened to her our last conversation would not have been me yelling at her. I just want to tell her I am sorry and that I didn't mean all those hurtful things. I love her so much.

"I love her so much, I know she was just mad and didn't mean any of it. She just wanted to fit in with her friends."
