Astrid a poor but smart girl at 16 struggles in life. she lives with her mom and her step dad, who is abusive and a drug dealer. she goes to school with her friends who she loves but when she meets the new boy what happens.
It was Saturday, 11 am and I was looking for something to wear but I couldn't find anything descent to wear, because I was going to hiccups house to help him. I was nervous. Because he was so perfect and from what I heard he lived in a very nice place and of course compared to me where I lived that is a big difference. I found something that was good enough to wear. It was black jumper and a short red skirt with black tights. I get dressed and do my hair in a braid and leave the house
"Hey" Hiccup said to me as he opened the door
"Hey" I replied back
"You look really nice"
"Oh thanks" I say blushing
"Come in"
"Oh thanks" I walked in to his home and it was huge just like I heard and it was amazing.
"Wow you have a really nice house"
"Thanks" he says to me with a smile and I smile back
He leads me to the living room and offers me to sit down
"Can I get you anything to eat or drink?" He asked me
"Oh no thank you" I said I was too shy to say yes
Neither of us said a word for few seconds then he breaks the silence
"So how are you?"
"I'm ok how you are?"
"Em yeah I'm good" he replied
Just then I felt something soft and furry on my leg, I look down and I see a black dog stroking me
"Aww he's so cute, I didn't know you had a dog"
"Yeah he's called toothless"

"Toothless?"
"Yeah a lot of people think it's a dumb name"
"I think it's cute"
"That's wired"
"What is?" I asked
"Toothless doesn't really like people, usually he barks or growls at them to protect me"
"Oh really then why doesn't he bark at me?"
"I don't know, he must like you"
"He hated heather the most every time she came over he would bark at her"
"I don't blame him" I say quietly but he hears me
"Yeah I never knew what a brat she was"
"Should we start working then" I ask
"Ok"
For the next few hours we worked together on a few subjects. Hiccup would constantly complement me saying how smart and that he wished he was like me. I was and I would just blush.
"How about we take a break for a bit" Hiccup suggested
"Ok" I reply" "so what do we do know"
"Well we could find out a bit about each other, I mean that's how friendship works"
Did he just call me his friend? Wow. I didn't expect that.
"Ok"
"So do you have any siblings?" he asked me
"No it's just me, what about you?"
"Same, got to admit it kind of boring"
"My turn" I say "what's your favourite colour?"
"Red, what's yours?"
"Blue"
"Favourite animal?"
"Well obviously a dog"
"Of course" I say smiling "mine is all birds"
"What about your Relationship with your parents?" he asked
I frown at the question. It's the one topic I don't like talking about
"Em well I used to be so close to my parents. We would always be happy and look after each other but ever since my dad died it hasn't been the same. My mother remarried and we have kind of drifted apart and my step dad is kind of... well he just hates me"
"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know"
"It's ok"
"I lost my mother"
"Really?"
"Yeah I was only one, so I never knew her and me and my dad are quite stiff with each other"
"I'm Sorry"
"It's ok
"So what do you want to be when your older? He asked me"
"I want to be a journalist"
"wow that sounds great"
"what about you"
"Well I don't really know"
"I have been thinking about something to do with art but I still don't know, my dad wants me to be a lawyer like him but I don't want to be one"
"You're into art" I ask
"Yeah I mostly draw"
"Can I see some?"
"Well they aren't really good"
"I'm sure they are" I say
"ok come with me"
We go to a room which I guessed was his. "Is this your room?"
"Yeah" he says then grabs a big book on his desk "here" he says giving me his book. I take it and look inside an see some amazing drawings.
"Oh my god, these are incredible"
"Really?"
"Yes you have talent" I tell him
"Thanks"
"Have you shown your dad these"
"No"
"Well maybe you should, I think he will also be amazed"
"You really kind" he says which makes me blush "what's that?2 he asks pointing at a bruise on my arm
"Oh nothing I fell down recently" I lied but he didn't look convinced.
"Ok"
I look at the time and realise that I had to go"
"em I have to go now thanks for showing me your drawings"
"oh ok thanks for helping me"
"Your welcome"
I go to the door and he follows
"hey Astrid do you think we could hang sometime?"
"you want to hang out"
"yeah well since I am no longer talking to heather I thought I should be with some new friends" he said
"you can come and be with me and my friends if you want to" I offered
"I'd like that" he said smiling
"Goodbye Hiccup"
"Goodbye Astrid"
So that is the next chapter done
