I didn’t even sleep that night. I stayed up drawing while listening to Green Day and 5sos. I only had two classes today, so I knew that I would have plenty of time to get ready for the concert. I had biology and abstract art classes and that was it. Nothing really happened in either of those classes. We did have a paint fight in art, but that’s pretty normal for that class. I ran back to my room after art let out.

I took a shower and touched up the electric blue and punk pink streaks in my black shoulder length hair. I put some concealer under my eyes to hide the bags and started hunting around in my closet for the perfect outfit. I found an old Metallica shirt and some ripped light blue jeans that looked perfectly punk with my black and silver studded high tops. I grabbed my phone and set out.

The concert didn’t start for another two hours, but I had to walk to the venue and I didn’t want to get there right as it started. They were already letting people in when I got there. I showed the security guard my ticket and he waved me through. I found my seat and started playing games on my phone. I was rather close to the stage, like fifth row back or so. I heard the other girls screaming and when I looked up I saw the four boys I never thought I would get to see in person.

I noticed Michael first since he is my favorite. His eyes scanned the crowd, but they stopped on me for a moment longer than the rest.  I knew I was kidding myself, but it seemed like his eyes lit up a bit when he saw me. I shook that stupid thought out of my mind almost as soon as it showed up. His hair was died white again, which I loved.

Luke and Calum seemed to notice that he picked me out of all the other girls because they both glanced at me before talking to each other. He probably just picked me out because of how different I look, or maybe he can already tell that I’m a freak. Ashton was sitting at his drum kit wearing another stupid hat. This one had no explanation to it, it was just, yikes.

They started out with some older songs and as soon as the first one started everyone was on their feet dancing and screaming. I was dancing like a fool, but I didn’t care. Not like I’m ever going to see any of these people again, right? They finished up with Amnesia. I loved and hated this song at the same time. It was so pretty, but it brought back bad memories. I tried to slip out while they were saying their goodbyes.

I heard the boys shouting, but I didn’t understand what they said. I walked outside and checked the time on my phone, 11:35. I knew it would be dangerous to walk back to the dorm, but what other option did I have? I heard the door open and someone running behind me. The same person grabbed my hand and stopped me from walking away. “Please, don’t go,” the person panted. They sounded familiar, but I couldn’t place the voice until I turned around and forgot how to breathe. Michael Gordon Clifford was standing right in front of me, holding my hand.

I pulled a dead fish. My mouth was hanging open as I stared wide eyed at his green eyes. “Shouldn’t you be back in there with the rest of the boys?” I asked once I snapped out of being shocked.

“Yeah, but I wasn’t going to just let you leave. I want to get to know you,” he said as he looked in my eyes. It seemed like he was searching for something, but the only thing he’ll find in my eyes is fake happiness hiding years of hurt. “So what’s your name?”

“Savannah, but why me?” I noticed that he was still holding my hand, but I don't think he noticed.

“You’re different, a good different,” he paused to think for a minute,” Would you like to stay with us tonight? It’s late and not really safe to walk around out here.”

“How’d you know that I walked here?”

“Let’s just say that the wind was not very nice to your hair and the sun was not very nice to your face, you’re a bit pink.” We both laughed and started walking back towards the building with our hands still together.

“Yeah,” I giggled,” you’d think that after a year here I would be used to the sun.”

He looked at me curiously. “You’ve only been in Australia for a year? Where are you from?”

“I’m from Tennessee, I came over here for school and to get away.” I could tell he wanted to know more, but for now he wasn’t going to push it. We were silent after that until I met the other boys.
