I'll answer questions at the end of each chapter since y'all are probably all tired of me not posting rants. To those of you who still want to ask questions go on ahead!

Now Best Friend characters can be amazing if done right, like their a helpful companion, but in the ways that they are typically used in fanfictions, killed off by the yandere like in the first chapter of many shitty yandere fics, they are pretty horribly written.

Best friend characters are simply put, best friends with the main character, they are usually the sidekicks, comedy relief, or that one really dependable character. I would consider Gary from Ib to be a good example of a best friend character, even though he's more like a big brother character, but you get my point. As said earlier they can be really well written, but there's always the other side of the coin.

In most yandere fanfiction the main character usually has a best friend or at least someone that the author tries to get you attached way too soon to the character. It isn't a bad idea to deal a huge loss to the main character, but you can't rush it out. If you want people to get emotional and/or cry about the loss of a character, you need to build empathy and other good traits from the ground up with that character. What published book that you have read that has made you cry before? Did they build it up towards the climax or somewhere close to it? It isn't good to copy other people's works, but you can learn from many successful things in life, you just have to study it and practice it until you get the hang of it.

Think of your most hated character that you have ever read or watched about. Then think of what made you hate them. If you want to get someone to hate your character, a good idea is to have them do morally questioning things and not care, be immensely rude, etc. etc. However if you use this too much it feels like you are trying to hard.

A bad way of making a character be hated by your audience is have everything they do be absolutely atrocious, petty, and/or really dumb and not really worth hate. Many things that I talk about in this book are double edged sword, or you just have to hit them just right.

Writing yandere characters is hard. You have to try to put two conflicting personalities into one and make it work. Plus many of the fanfictions I have read don't know how to create suspense or dread, which is one of the main things I like about yanderes. These kinds of authors make the yandere too predictable, which causes them to be extremely boring. What makes an amazing yandere character is their unpredictability, without that I wouldn't be as interested in yanderes as I am now.

Now if you have any of these in your stories don't beat yourself up over it. My best recommendation is to take some inspiration from your favorite authors and try to emulate what they do with the character type you are interested in writing, and practice again and again. I'm probably sure many of you are sick of hearing it, so am I, but practice does indeed make perfect.
