How To Not Write a Story: Fairy Tail

Okay so I'm basically out of ideas for specific parts of fanfiction, I'm gonna talk about a specific fandoms fanfiction and tell you how to avoid those mistakes if you decide to write one about it. First I'll be talking about the source material and how to improve the story and what not if you are writing something similar, then I will focus on the fanfiction side and give tips on things I believe need to be fixed. As a side note I will only write about fandoms that I have actually been in, I want to use first hand experience for these. The first fandom that came to mind was Fairy Tail. Now I have a pretty long history with this one since it was one of the first animes/manga I have read. At first I loved every part, but then I grew out of it and I hate almost everything about it. I like the ideas about the world, but the characters completely ruin it for me. Just so that you know I have not finished the series, the farthest I have gotten was the end of the Tartarus arc. One last thing, there will be spoilers in this chapter, so if you are for some reason interested in reading/watching Fairy Tail it might not be the best idea to read this, unless you want actual opinions on whether or not you should read/watch it.

One of the of the major lessons to take away from this series is how to build characters, with this series either the characters are so flat that they fade into obscurity or are way too overpowered. I hate the slaying magic within this series because it's supposed to be super powerful(which is shown) but rare. The rarity of it baffles me since like all important characters fucking have it. Like if you are going to make something rare, make no one but maybe one or two people have it, it ain't that fucking hard. Another thing is character development, literally Natsu is the same guy at the beginning and at the end, minus even more power ups that he didn't need whatsoever. In my opinion the character designs get pretty boring after awhile. Like almost every dude is ripped as hell and ever girl has huge as shit boobs. I don't mind not having diversity in character designs, but at least have a little bit more creativity with a design instead of using a damn base for all of your characters. So if you don't want stuff like this to happen in your story, I'd recommend doing almost the exact opposite of what Hiro Mashima did.

Like with the source material, most of the fanfics are shit. Sure there are the occasional good ones, but from the ones I have read, they don't involve the main character that much, or actually make them good characters. Like the characters ruin everything good about this series to me. For OC's and readers in reader inserts, why do they always have to be so damn op? I get you want your character to stand a chance against the main ones, but they fall into the same trap that the canon's do. I'm sure none of you know this but I was invested enough into this fandom that I created OC's for it, they're shit, but I might adopt one into another character for a story or other fandom.

This goes for all fandom fanfiction, but why is it that they all follow the exact plot, there isn't much change within it so why do so? Why not have an original side adventure with the characters instead of copying what's down in the source material?

Sorry that this wasn't very long, I haven't been inspired, should I say, to write anything lately. Do you guys mind at all about these short chapters? I feel like I'm coping all of you out on a good chapter every time I post a short chapter. I might do another chapter like this if I can find a fandom that does similar shit to this and that I have been in.

Oh yeah, would any of you be interested in me writing a story or something, like I want to write an even more yandere Phantom from Phantom of the Opera, but I'm not to sure. Do you have any suggestions of things I could write since I want to improve on it a bit more?

Anyways, I absolutely love you all, thanks for sticking through this book to this point!
