Lyric and her parents at at the table looking at an envelope in the middle of the table. It was addressed to her, from Julliard.
"The suspense is Killing me Lyric, open it!" Darren said.
"Not yet. I can't." Lyric said. "I have to wait for Killian." She said. "He's coming over soon."
Lyric was more nervous about this than she had been at her audition. This was the moment of truth and could she face her family and Killian if she didn't get in? Lyric got up and walked over to the coffee pot and poured herself more coffee.
"Lyric its going to be okay. No matter what." Sarah said.
"I either got into the school I've wanted to get into since I learned to play my first instrument, or I didn't and my whole life comes crashing down at my feet. Yep totally okay." Lyric sighed.
There was a knock on the door. Darren got up and went to answer it while Lyric paced in the kitchen.
"Thank God you are here." Darren sighed as Killian walked inside.
"I never thought I'd hear that coming from you." Killian chuckled.
"I never thought I'd say it but we got the letter three days ago and she has refused to open it until you could be here." Darren said. Killian smiled and walked further into the house and watched Lyric anxiously pacing the kitchen with a cup of coffee in her hands.
"I'm here love." Killian said.
"I see that." Lyric said.
"Sorry, she's moody when shes anxious." Sarah smiled.
Lyric walked over to the table and picked up the letter.
"Well, are you going to open it?" Killian asked. Lyric went to open the letter but shook her head.
"I can't do it. You do it." She said and handed it to Killian. Killian took the letter.
"Are you sure you want me to do it?" He asked.
"If you don't. It will be next year before it gets opened." Darren said. "On with it!"
"I don't know who is more anxious, Lyric or Darren." Sarah laughed.
"Me." Both Lyric and Darren said at the same time. Killian smiled and slowly opened the envelope. He pulled the folded letter out. Lyric was shaking now as he unfolded the letter and his eyes scanned it. His face dropped and Lyric felt her heart sink into her stomach and she mentally prepared herself for the worst. Killian looked up at her with a serious as hell expression before he started reading out loud.
"Dear Lyric, Thank you for your participation in auditions with The Juilliard School, We appreciated the opportunity to meet you, and become acquainted with your talents. As a result of your audition and application evaluation by the piano faculty and committee of admissions..." He trailed off and at this point he couldn't keep up his serious act. A goofy grin spread across his face
"It is with great pleasure that we inform you, that you have been admitted into Juilliard for the 2018-2019 Acade-" Killian couldn't even finish the sentence before Lyric let out a happy shriek and launched herself at him sending them both to the floor kissing all over his face. He laughed.
"Lyric love we are in your living room." He said. Lyric looked at her parents who were both excited but looking at her and Killian awkwardly.
"Oops." Lyric giggled and and stood up brushing herself off. Darren helped Killian up and to Killians surprised he was pulled into a hug.
"Thank you. For everything." Darren said.
"It was all Lyric." Killian smiled.

Darren walking into the living room with a birthday cake with 18 candles in it and set it down in front of Lyric while everyone in the room was singing happy birthday. She blew out her candles not really having anything to wish for at this particular moment, everything she could have wanted was right in front of her.

Killian snuck out to the porch where Lyric was standing.
"Not many people successfully sneak away from their own birthday party." He said. Lyric smiled.
"I'm sorry, its just really nice out here."
"Hey its your birthday you do what you want." Killian chuckled. "It is really nice out here though. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, you know me though I get overwhelmed in large crowds of people even if its my own party." Lyric giggled.
"And you want to be a musician." Killian smirked.
"Weird right? I don't want to be a musician for recognition though, I just want to be a musician because I love music."
"I know, I was teasing you love." Killian smiled and pulled her close. "You still coming over tonight?"
"Of course." Lyric smiled and nuzzled into his neck. "As soon as the party is over."
"Maybe we should get back inside before people realize you are missing." Killian said.
"Okay, if you say so." Lyric laughed and walked inside because there were some students that didn't know Killian and Lyric were in a relationship at the party, Killian waited a few minutes before he came inside.

Lyric was in her room packing an overnight bag for Killian's. She had a few things of hers over there, but she had planned to stay the weekend. Sarah walked into the room and sat down on the bed.
"So, feel any older?"
"Nah." Lyric smiled.
"Well that makes one of us." Sarah laughed.
"You aren't old mom." Lyric giggled and sat down with her.
"I just can't believe you are 18, and you are graduating next week, and then in a few months you're moving out." Sarah sighed.
"You know I'll come visit mom. Every holiday."
"Every weekend?" Sarah asked.
Lyric smiled. "Maybe every other weekend. Besides Killian still lives here. So I'll be coming to see him sometimes. I know it seems like a long ways away but its really not and I'll call every day. I promise." Lyric said. "Besides, you and dad will be so busy with Quin you'll hardly notice I'm gone."
"You haven't left yet and I already miss you." Sarah smiled sadly and wiped tears from her eyes. "And you're staying the weekend with your boyfriend, you've just grown up way too fast." Lyric sniffled and wrapped her arms around her mother.
"I love you mom." She said.
"I love you to baby..You should go, I'm sure Killian has something lovely planned for you." Sarah said and pushed Lyrics hair out of her eyes.
"Just don't call me with details." She laughed.
Lyric laughed.
"Oh my God, mom." She said and rolled her eyes. Sarah stood up and went to walk out of the room but stayed in the doorway for a moment watching Lyric finish packing for her weekend at Killians.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

"Okay. Open your eyes." Killian said. Lyric uncovered her eyes and looked at the guitar case on the coffee table in front of her. She looked up at Killian suspiciously.
"I know, you are doing the Piano course at Juilliard, but I know your first love is guitars and I wanted you to have something to remind you that you can always come back to what you love." Killian smiled.
Lyric slowly opened the guitar case and gasped.
"Oh.. Killian." She said and looked down at the Gibson Hummingbird with a vintage cherry sunburst finish in the case.
"I couldn't. I can't accept this. This.. is amazing."
"Its personalized you have to accept it." Killian smirked. Lyric looked at the fretboard and sure enough her name was on it.
"I love it." She smiled. "Its beautiful. Thank you. Thank you so much."
"Happy birthday love." Killian said and leaned in and kissed her. "Now play me something."
Lyric grinned and pulled the guitar out of the case.
"Oh. I don't have a-"
Killian handed her a guitar pick.
"You just carry those things around?" Lyric asked.
"I'm a music teacher. I also do guitar lessons. So. yeah I do." Killian smirked. "Play."
"Play what?" Lyric asked.
"Are you really going to make me say it again?" Killian asked.
"Yeah Yeah, I know play what speaks to me." Lyric giggled and flexed her fingers before beginning to play.
