Lord Sesshomaru’s touch had always been comforting. Whenever he would hold her, she would always feel assured, and secure – she felt safe, almost.
If only he were there to hold her now.
The pack of white wolves slowly drew nearer, snarling with their sharp canines bared, and she had nowhere to run. Even with everything that she had been through in the past, she had never imagined something like this. She had never imagined her own kind turning on her. (Well, maybe she had, but not to this caliber.) These wolves obviously had a wish to kill, and she knew that the only thing that would alleviate that desire would be blood; though, not any blood would suffice. They obviously wanted her blood. These wolves were intent on tasting the blood of the Southern Wolf Tribe’s runaway princess.
In a situation such as this, the old her would have probably been trembling with fear by now, but that part of her had long disappeared. Travelling with Lord Sesshomaru had definitely taught her to be brave and to fend for herself. She was, however, becoming worried.
She soon reached for her sword, which had also become much stronger over time, ready to defend herself – even if it meant slaughtering her own kind.

Love
What exactly was it?
Long before he even knew much about such a feeling, he had admitted to loving the girl – although, in his eyes, she had long matured from a mere weak girl to a much stronger and more courageous young woman.
Though he was not one to smile – or show any emotion, as a matter of fact – he couldn’t help but have a small urge to smirk at her ways: the way she would look at him in an attempt at getting him outright say the words “I love you too,”, the way she always looked after Rin, the way his random moments of affection always managed to startle her, and much more. He also couldn’t help his wanting to always protect her.
Was this what ‘love’ was?
If this was so, then he was surely in love with her, but would his pride and his unfeeling ways ever allow him to admit this to her? He knew that she could tell that he loved her, but he also knew that she wished greatly for him to act more like it, though she wouldn’t admit it....

“My lord, as you ordered, Hachiromaru, Kou and the pack have gone to capture the followers of the one called Sesshomaru.”
At this, a devious smile formed on the lips of the wolf lord.
“Good,” his response had sounded like a low growl. “We shall soon see how great of a demon this ‘Lord of the West’ is.”
“Sire, I think you should know...,” the lesser demon hesitated at first, “that one of those ‘followers’ just so happens to be your daughter.”
For a brief moment, the wolf lord’s face lit up with some kind of emotion that the other demon hadn’t quite been able to decipher.
Had it been surprise, joy, or had it been rage?
“I see,” he replied. “Well then, I suppose we will simply be killing two birds with one stone.”
