It had taken her a while to notice him standing there. This was one of the reasons, Sesshomaru thought, as to why emotions were meaningless to him (or at least they had once been meaningless). Emotions, he thought, were nothing but a bother and a distraction most of the time.
But, Sesshomaru supposed, showing some kind of emotion would be the only way he could prove to Hana that he cared for (loved) her. That was the only way he could erase all doubts from her mind. With people like Hana and Rin around, Sesshomaru knew that emotions were, inevitably, something he would have to get used to eventually.
Before he knew it, he found that he’d been staring at Hana as she knelt there. He could tell from her posture and the way that her long white hair hung over her shoulders, hiding her face, that she was unhappy.
That was when she’d become aware of his presence and turned around to face him – her eyes slightly watery. She’d obviously been crying. He felt that this gave him all the more reason to want to kill that wretched father of hers.
He saw the faint change of color in her cheeks as she looked up at him, but though she was blushing, there was still a great sadness in her eyes. That sadness caused Sesshomaru to feel something he hadn’t quite felt in a while. That feeling was compassion.
He did not wish to see Hana sad.
If only he could tell her that.
Instead, he moved closer to the kneeling wolf demon, bending down himself and wordlessly stretching out a clawed hand towards her for her to take a hold of. At first, she looked up at him curiously. He tried not to look at her with that cold and indifferent stare which he often gave others. He noticed the sadness in her eyes disappear as she soon took a hold of his hand, and as he closed his hand around hers, pulling Hana to her feet, her blushing became much more obvious. Sesshomaru then gently pulled Hana into a warm embrace, suddenly wrapping both his arms around her.
He could tell that she’d been surprised at first as he had heard her gasp faintly, but eventually, as she stood there in his arms, he discovered that he’d been quite successful in comforting her.
There was a brief moment of silence as he held her there. It had been Hana’s voice that broke the silence.
“Lord Sesshomaru,” she called in an almost muffled voice, “your armor is rather sharp.”
Sesshomaru suddenly smiled to himself for a second, amused at Hana’s comment. He then loosened his embrace, enabling her to raise her head and look up at him – and also preventing the spikes in his armor from impaling her. She smiled.

Hana had nervously taken a seat next to Sesshomaru’s feet as he glared out over the cliff at the Southern Wolf Tribe. She, instead, focused on the mountains in the backdrop. Hana had realized that up to now, wolf demons had been nothing but a bother to the daiyokai – first the wolves that had killed Rin and now her father, who had kidnapped her, Rin and Jaken in order to anger him. She pulled her knees up to her chest, hugging them tightly. She felt ashamed to call herself a wolf demon.
Sesshomaru would surely find a way to kill her father for what he’d done sooner or later – he didn’t take those kinds of things lightly. But did she really want her father to be killed, and at the hands of the man whom she loved, nonetheless? Other than his occasional caring moments towards her, her relationship with Sesshomaru hadn’t progressed much – he was still as stoic as ever - , but she still believed that she loved him, and she still hoped that he loved her.
Hana had attacked her father herself, but that was only an impulsive reaction, was it not?
But her father had also ordered wolves to attack her, and he had threatened her life too. Her father was a changed man. Her father was a despicable man.
Knowing her father, he would probably send more demons after her to kill her after what she’d done, and that would probably annoy Sesshomaru even more. But that was exactly what her father wanted. He wanted to challenge Sesshomaru so that he could battle the dog demon in order to take his lands. (A stupid plan indeed)
In other words, her father wanted to die.
Her father…deserved to die.
Did she really mean that?
Hana’s heart ached, but she refused to cry in front of Sesshomaru.
As these thoughts of the wolf demons crossed her mind, her nose soon picked up the scent of one – thought this wolf demon wasn’t an enemy.
Koga was near………and so were Rin and Jaken. Sesshomaru seemed to realize this at the same time as she had. They must have probably decided to come find her and Sesshomaru and had met Koga along the way.
Still sitting, Hana turned her entire body to face the approaching trio; Sesshomaru only slightly turned his head.
“Hadn’t actually expected to find him here,” she heard Koga mutter under his breath.
Rin had a large smile on her face. Jaken’s eyes suddenly lit up, and then became two large tear-filled pools – tears of joy, Hana supposed – as he cried out “Milord, I have found you once again!”
Sesshomaru soon turned around and began walking towards them. She hoped that he and Koga didn’t have some kind of feud going on.
Jaken, who had been joyfully running towards Sesshomaru, was soon stepped on, and Sesshomaru continued walking until he was face to face with the wolf demon. They both stared blankly at each other for a while before walking past each other – Koga towards Hana and Sesshomaru towards Rin. She breathed a sigh of relief.
She supposed that after Koga’s saving Rin, they had developed some kind of mutual understanding.
Koga walked over to her, greeting her with an informal “yo.” She looked up at him silently for a moment before returning back to her original position looking out at the mountains.
“Thanks for saving me,” she mumbled. He sighed, closing his eyes briefly.
“It’s nothing.”
Before Hana could say anything more to Koga, he spoke once more.
“Well, I’m off. I think Sesshomaru over there doesn’t want me talking to you. I’ll see ya round.”
Koga suddenly hopped forward, off the cliff.
“Oh, and stop looking so depressed!”
Hana looked on curiously as a giant whirlwind then formed around Koga, taking him down the side of the cliff. Soon enough, he – and his whirlwind – was gone.

The wolf demon was right – Sesshomaru didn’t enjoy seeing him standing there next to Hana. He wasn’t entirely sure why – it was something about the way it had looked from afar –the two wolf demons, a male and a female, next to each other.A sudden thought as to why he felt that way soon struck him.
Was he…? No. He dismissed the thought.
Rin, who had been standing next to Sesshomaru, then innocently questioned the exact thought he had dismissed.
“Is Milord jealous?” She asked with a smile on her face.
Sesshomaru suddenly looked down at the little girl, surprise evident on his face.
