Hana didn’t wish to admit it, but Koga was right.
But even though he was right, that did not quite change the fact that she had just lost something quite close to her. With the other wolf demon still lying next to her, she closed her eyes in thought, and that was when she remembered something. That was when an image of Sesshomaru’s sword (the Tenseiga) popped into her mind. Remembering what Tenseiga was capable of, she lifted her head, gasping, and her eyes suddenly grew bright with hope.
“You’re looking better already,” pointed out Koga.
Suddenly, Hana stood up - the flicker of hope that had formed within her causing her to forget that childbirth had caused her to become weak.
“What about the Tenseiga?” She questioned with her voice a bit brighter. Koga looked thoughtful.
“I’d hate to burst your bubble, but have you forgotten that your dear Sesshomaru is nowhere to be found?”
Suddenly her heart plummeted.
So much for being optimistic…
She had forgotten that he’d left, and she still had no clue where he’d gone. Suddenly, her guilt – and all her other sadness – came rushing back. Koga seemed to notice this, causing him to mumble a soft “sorry about that.”
“Could you please take me back to the village? Lady Kaede must be worried.”

“It seems Tenseiga is quite specific when it comes to its abilities.
I suppose that the reason you cannot resurrect your child is because, technically, the child is a part of its mother – whom you had already brought back to life once before. And as you have learnt, you can only bring someone back to life once.
I hope all this makes sense to you, Sesshomaru.”Those had been the blacksmith’s words to him, and indeed they had made sense, but they had, in no way, made him feel any better.
The child was a part of Hana, and he had already brought Hana back to life once before – on the night he had first encountered her.
To his dismay, the sadness within Sesshomaru, caused by the loss of his first and only child, had grown tenfold. He had never experienced such a disheartened feeling before. He did not understand how humans could succumb to such awful emotions on such a regular basis.
His heart was…heavy…so to speak, and the feeling was, to him, quite unusual. He could only imagine what Hana was feeling at the moment.
That was when he suddenly realized what he’d done.
He’d left her all alone in such a vulnerable state – something which was probably making her feel a hundred times worse.
And suddenly the new sadness in his heart intensified, and the daiyokai cursed at himself for actually allowing himself to give in to such an emotion.
As he left, Jaken, who had been waiting for him, greeted him joyfully, but instantly noticed the difference in his master’s disposition.
“Milord, is something wrong? You do not seem…yourself.”
Sesshomaru’s only reply was a stern and monotonous “let’s go, Jaken.”
When he’d neared the village, the sun was just about to rise. And waiting in a meadow somewhere a distance from the village was a little human girl with eyes full of tears. Rin was crying.
Never before had he seen her do such a thing before. Sesshomaru looked down at the little girl curiously, thinking of some way he could comfort and assure her.
Rin wiped her eyes as he bent down to face her.
"Rin, what is wrong?”
"Poor Hana. She lost her baby and now she thinks you're mad at her," she said innocently. "What if she never comes back? Or what if she gets so sad she does something bad to herself?"
He hadn't noticed before how much Rin understood situations like this one.
He looked at her even more curiously than before.
Hana had run away because...she was afraid she'd angered him?
How absurd, he thought. He loved her far too much.
Sesshomaru placed a hand on the human girl's head as his other hand wiped away a tear.
"Do not worry yourself so much."
