To think that Sesshomaru had a brother and she hadn’t even known.
Then again, Sesshomaru wasn’t one to talk much about family – or to talk much at all, for that matter (though that was slowly changing as their love was blossoming.)
The human woman named Kagome whom she had discovered to be the wife of Inuyasha had generously made her some tea, and now Hana sat in the hut waiting for Sesshomaru to return with Kagome sitting next to her. Inuyasha lay sprawled off on the other side of the room, a hand of his face, and the flea Myoga sitting on his shoulder.
Kagome was cheerful and kind, and as Hana chatted idly with the human, she began to realize how similar Kagome was to her.
“Enough with the chit-chat, I just wanna know how Sesshomaru actually let you accompany him.” Inuyasha interrupted, his ears twitching slightly. Hana had to suppress a giggle after wondering how someone like him had such cute ears.
“You must remember, Master Inuyasha,” added the flea on Inuyasha’s shoulder, “Sesshomaru has changed slightly over the years.”
“Keh. He’s still same ol’ Sesshomaru to me.”
After listening to the two, Hana thought about Inuyasha’s question.
“Oh, well,” she stuttered a bit, also blushing slightly, “I guess it’s a long story.” She smiled, rubbing the back of her head nervously.
“Hmph,” he replied closing his eyes, a slight, unfading frown on his face. “Fine, don’t tell me.”
Kagome shot Inuyasha a glare for being rude, and then turned to face the wolf demon.
“So tell us, Hana,” she smiled, “how do you manage to put up with Sesshomaru’s coldness?” Hana blinked. The question had caught her slightly off guard.
Thinking back from present to the day when she’d first laid eyes on him, Hana soon realized that Sesshomaru had never quite been ‘cold’ towards her…he just always had this indifferent aura about him.
There was a difference…right?
“I don’t think he’s ever been cold – not towards me, or Rin, or even Master Jaken. Maybe slightly abusive towards Jaken, but I think that’s just for kicks.” At her last sentence, she smiled brightly at the human.
Just then, both Hana and Inuyasha suddenly turned their attention towards the door of the hut with Kagome eventually following suit. And just as the two of them murmured the words “something’s wrong,” there was a loud crash, followed shortly by a large cloud of dust. The calm and casual mood in the hut soon disappeared completely.
Inuyasha, with Myoga still on his shoulder, sprang to his feet, instinctively reaching for the hilt of the sword tied to his waist and leaping through the door. Kagome and Hana followed close behind. Hana’s eyes widened at the sight before her.
Sesshomaru was in mid air, poison whip out, with some unknown demon before him. The demon was nothing she’d ever seen before. Standing at what appeared to be about ninety feet tall, the demon seemed to be some kind of a hybrid between a human female and a centipede.
She heard Kagome mutter the name “Mistress Centipede.”
“Feh,” Inuyasha spat as he drew his sword that immediately grew to about twice its original size. “Mistress Centipede is long gone. This demon is much stronger.”
Holding the sword with both his hands, he pointed it at the demon, ready to join in battle.
