There's a knock on the door, so I open it. "Hey, Matty, what's up?" I ask. He looks me up and down, and I realize I didn't put any shorts on before answering. "Eyes are up here, Matty." I say. He blushes and chuckles.
"I was informed that I am brining you to the Mikealson ball." He says. "Informed or threatened?" I ask. He smiles, and I nod my head in understanding. "Anyways, I will pick you up tonight at six." He says, and I nod. "I'll be ready, and not in a shirt and underwear." I say. He laughs, and I actually smile.
His eyes practically fall out of his brain, so I tilt my head to the side confused. "What?" I ask. "Your smiling." He states. "Am I not allowed to smile?" I ask, smiling brighter. "No, I just think you have a beautiful smile." He says. I blush, and hide my face, then clear my throat. "I'll, uh, see you at six." I say, then close the door on him.
I put my back against the door, and attempt to settle my emotions.
My heart flutters as I realize Matt just told me I have a beautiful smile.
It falls as I realize I might be getting feelings for him.
It cracks as I remember Enzo, the only man I have ever been in love with.
It shatters as I realize Matt has every bit of trust I have left. Only pain and heartbreak can come from trust.
