One word and the world spun beneath my feet. Kusum sat on the bed with a thud she hid her face in her hands and started crying.
Shruti and I sat beside her. "Hey don't cry. We are here for you. No one's gonna hurt you or..... Your baby. But how does it happen Kusum?" Shruti asked very softly to her.
"That night at fare well party. We left to go home but... We were drunk and.... One thing led to another... I don't know."
It make sense why they were so hesitant when we returned home after seeing Akshay off that day.
"Does Sid know?" I asked.
"No. No one does. I had a doubt but you confirmed it just now. What am I gonna do now? My mother... if she comes to know she'll kill me first than Sid. Oh God..... What had I done?"
"Sshh. Stop blaming yourself. We are with you. Any decision you'll take we'll be there. Talk to Sid. But don't be afraid." I said and embraced her crying self.
Shruti's cell rang. "Hey. .... In Mausam's room. Why?" She was talking to Akshay when a knock came on the door.
I went to check it and there was Sid huffing as if he ran all the way up here.
"Yeah Sid's here. We'll meet you downstairs." Shruti said and hung up the call. Kusum stood up and looked at Sid.
He entered my room. He was walking very slowly taking in the appearance of Kusum. He stood right in front of her and swallowed.
"We are going downstairs. Just don't leave the room without calling us." I said and left with Shruti.
Kusum's POV:
I knew I missed him but seeing him in front of me I felt like finally I was breathing again.
He was analysing me. My face, my body, my stability. I know he can see right through my eyes. I tried to smile and he hugged me.
We have hugged each other before but this time... It felt like a drop of water to my thirsty soul. I hugged him back and tried to hold him tight. I wanted to feel all of him for the time I have.
Once I'll get back into that hell I'll be caged again like a criminal. My every movement will be watched like a fugitive.
"Hold me tight. Please. " I said to Sid though my voice came out very light.
"I'm afraid I'll break you." Sid said and broke the hug. I felt cold all over again. "I'm so sorry." he said looking at me again. "You are looking so vulnerable heart. What is it?" He cupped my face and asked. How I missed his endearments! "It's not only that you missed me and you were locked in your home. There's something more. I can see it.... It's eating you from inside. Tell me baby what is it?"
"Siddhartha....." I couldn't pull myself together and tell him what I just found out. I kissed at his cheek just close to his lips and he sadly smiled at me.
"You know I have a job now. The company is paying me good. Soon I'll move out of my orphanage and live with you. I can take care of you, you don't need to worry it'll be alright. Just tell me." He smiled and tried to encourage me but his smiled didn't reach his eyes. I can see the tiredness the anxiety that he was trying to hide from me.
If something else I wouldn't have tell him but this... I can't hide.
"Sid I'm sorry...... " I saw he was confused. "After that night whatever happened.... I didn't have the time to do anything and once I was in my home. Mom grounded me. I didn't know earlier I swear. I just found out and now.... I don't know what am gonna do? I'm...."
"Ssshhh... " I was ranting and tears were falling freely out of my eyes when he shushed me by putting his forefinger on my lips. "You're afraid! I can see that. But know one thing, no matter what I'll be there for you with you. No one can raise a finger on you. You're safe in my arms, don't worry about anything. Just tell me what did you find hmm?"
I can see the truth in his eyes. I do trust him more than myself. My heart felt relieved by his words. "I.. I'm pregnant." I said then slowly raised my head to look into his eyes. There was some unexplainable expressions. He was stunned.
"Are.. You sure?" He asked and I nodded my head unable to say anything.
I was expecting him to say something but he hugged me. "I'm so sorry. You had to go through this alone. But you are not anymore. I'm with you now. Wahtever comes in our way I'm with you." The pain I was holding until now hit me hard with a wave of relief. I know him but still I had a nagging feeling in my head that what if he won't accept this baby? What if he asks me to abort?
But he's not like that guys. He knows his responsibilities. But... My mother..
I broke the hug and asked him "What about mom. She won't acccept our child. I don't wanna lose him Sid please."
"we aren't going to lose him. I promise. He's the remembrance of our love. I won't let anyone harm him or you. I promise. But please you take care of yourself. I can't bear seeing you like this."
"I'll. But she hasn't accepted you how will she... "
"Give me few days heart. I'll ask for your hand. Once I return back tomorrow I'll start the arrangements. Ok?"
"Okay."
"Now smile. You look more gorgeous while you smile." He said and smiled. I don't know after how many days I've smiled. He kissed me on the cheek and smiled too.
"You should get ready now. It's time already. I'll call Mausam and Shruti. They'll help you. But why did Mausam told me not to leave the room without calling them?"
"Because of Harry. My so called bodyguard. Whom my mother has sent to keep an eye on me."
"Your mother is taking our love way to seriously. I know I don't have parent's but its not like I don't have any legacy. Sister Lina was a friend of my mother that's why she took my under her guidance after my parent's death. Cause my other relatives were only after the property that my parent's left. It's not as big as your mother's but not too small either. Once I'll be 22 all of that will be mine. That means we only have to wait for 5 more days."
"I love you, you love me. Only that matters to me. I don't want your property Siddhartha. I want you."
"You can have all of me, my gorgeous but your mother need to know that I do have something on my tail. But don't you dare to imagine me with a tail." He said with a stern face but his expression were funny that I couldn't help but started laughing. I was laughing more when I saw Sid silently watching me. "What?" I asked within my sbsiding laugh.
"I missed you." He said and before I could answer he captured my lips with his. Oh I soo missed this. I encircled my arms on his neck and he hold me close by my waist. We enjoyed our moment until a knock came on the door.
