"WHAT?" I couldn't believe what I just heard.
"Are you saying... I mean.. Can you rephrase it.. Like there can be misunderstanding or..." I think my ears are not working.
"He tried to force himself on me. There's nothing to misunderstand." Mausam said irritatingly with tears in her eyes. I held her hand and squeezed it. I couldn't utter a word.
"After yesterday's event I thought I should talk to him. But I knew Karan won't agree with it so I tricked him and went to Neev's house. I wish... I hadn't done that. " She closed her eyes I know she can't lie about something like this but Neev.
Both of them are my best friends. Mausam told me every detail of the incident. I was paralyzed.
I never knew Neev has such feelings for her. But whatever he did is not acceptable.
"We should tell the boys. If not everyone, you should tell Veer."
"So that he kill him. No Shruti. If bhaiya or Karan anyone or both of them comes to know this they'll kill him even before you can say 'stop'. "
"But we can't keep it a secret. This is why Neev was apologizing repeatedly." I said remembering the time when Mausam was sleeping.
"I don't know what to do but, right now I don't want to see his face."
"Agreed. Just leave this here and sleep. You need it."
"You?"
"I'll join you in some time."
"Okay. Good night then. "
"Good night." I dialled Akshay's number and went to her balcony.
"Hey. " he picked it up instantly.
"Hey. You okay?" I didn't get the chance to talk to him after what happened to Mausam.
"Are you?"
"Mm hmm." Couldn't say yes because am not but can't reveal the truth either.
"How is Mausam? Did she talk about her...condition?" I dreaded this question. But I, by no means can lie to him.. But also I can't break Mausam's trust. Our friend circle is already messed up I can't make it worse.
"Yeah she did tell me but.. You know it's not my place to tell. She is broken and need us. Together. And if I break the reason to any one of us we won't be together I afraid." That was the best I could tell him.
"Okay. But baby is there any problem? Is it about yesterday's event with Neev and Veer? You know we can make amends right? "
"I know. But... Things are way more complicated than we are seeing. I think she needs time and some space."
"I think you're right. But anything needed you know am there. For both of you. As you two are the only female in my life whom I can't loose at any cost." My heart swelled up with his love full voice. I know he had two very important women in his life... Once. And he sees his sister in Mausam that's why he loves her so much.
"Yeah. How's Karanveer? Is he taking it good?"
"As good as he can. He wants to break every single bone of the person responsible for Mausam's condition." Mausam was right. If we tell Karanveer about Neev he'll kill him.
"Shruti.. Are you even there?"
"Uh.. Huh. Sorry. I was... thinking.."
"You can share with me, you know?"
"I do. But as I said it's not my place to tell."
"I'll be still there. Now go and sleep soundly. "
"Yeah. You too. "
"Bye good night. Take care of my sister and my girlfriend." he laughed lightly.
"Sure will do. Good night."
