**Liz' pov**
She spent the day at home in bed nursing a hangover and adjusting to married life as well as a new life without Susan at her age you expect it but you can never prepare for it. She called Emma to chat about how she was doing and everything that happened the night before. She then called Adrian and luckily caught him when he was on a break and told him how grateful she was for looking out for them both and getting them home. She then called Emma again and they chatted until 2am and then Liz went to sleep.
**Adrian's pov**
He signed out at 3:10am thanks to a rather annoying/demanding patient but he shrugged it off and then received a call from Emma; she sounded like she had been crying and he asked her if she wanted him to come over but she said she was okay. She then told him her mother would want her to continue living her life even if she did feel a little guilty and set up another date in which she would pay for this Saturday. (three days away)
They chatted about the date and then he yawned so she said goodnight and hung up. He cursed himself for that as he wanted to continue talking to her but instead his bed won the argument and he drove home slowly so if he did fall asleep he would hopefully notice he was behind the wheel in time to brake but there wasn't much traffic anyway so he could speed if he really wanted. Once he arrived home he sleepily locked the car, fumbled with the door key and unlocked the door, turned around and locked it again. He stumbled up the stairs and threw off his clothes, landed on his bed and instantly fell asleep.
He awoke with a start and looked at the clock 6am he had been asleep 2 hours and was the start of his day-off he planned to sleep till noon at least. He turned over when he heard it again; a child's voice "Mister I'm on the 14th step" he pulled the pillow over his head "Mister I'm outside your door" he wrapped the duvet tightly over himself and grabbed the pillow tight over his head trying to drown out the voice and calm his pounding heart. The voice stopped and he fell asleep again, tiredness beating the fear. He didn't hear the footsteps on the carpet, didn't wish he closed the door, didn't feel the weight on the bed near his head or the pillow slowly push down until it was too late.
He woke up his body fighting to breathe as the pillow pushed down but he couldn't move it his hands were in the duvet and he wrapped it that tight they were stuck. He felt his body try to breathe, try to get the pillow off his head, tried to throw himself upwards but didn't have the energy, then felt the blackness, the burning fade as he fell unconscious and breathed his final breath.
**Emma's pov**
She tried calling Adrian at 10am, then thought he must be asleep still as he wouldn't have gotten home until 4am. She made her small breakfast of toast and orange juice and watched some TV until noon then she called him again planning to ask him out for lunch with no answer. This was strange usually he picked up the phone even if he was busy or sent a text afterward explaining why he couldn't answer. She waited for 20 minutes and decided to call Liz to meet her and go to Adrian's house together in taxi. Once Liz arrived she noticed the doll was missing and explained to Liz what had happened so now they were both worried.
They arrived 15 minutes later outside Adrian's house and instantly felt something was off so they called the police. They arrived 20 minutes later, broke through the door as there was still no answer, told them to wait outside and declared it a crime scene after looking around the house. They then took Emma and Liz for questioning as they knew the victim and to get a statement and knowledge of his last movements. When they were finally released after being asked countless questions such as him having enemies, his job, friends, family, how he seemed the day before, and any involvement with illegal things, they went home tired and grieving yet again.
