Stuck In The Middle

(Nya's POV)

It was very quiet, you know, except for when the cave rumbled. I was scared that the tiles would fall, but also surprised that we hadn't fallen yet. We have been trapped in here for over an hour.

"Hey Nya..", Max said. "I'm sorry I got you into this. In fact, I'm sorry for making you come after me. I should not have run off. For now on, I will behave better.".

"Max.", Nya said. "You wanted to know what was going on. I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier. I was very upset.". "It's okay.", Max said, then he held his arms open. "Buds..". I stared at him in amusement. "Buddies?", he asked with an awkward smile. "Pals? Amigos? Allies?". He then paused and asked:

"Friends?".

I laughed to myself and said "Friends.".

I could already tell Max was waiting for his hug. "Maybe when we aren't trapped in the middle of a drop.", I said. Max put his arms down.

Suddenly I heard footsteps. "Someone's coming!", Max shouted. Max and I got close together and got in fighting stances. Turns out, it was the others. "Guys, you finally came!", I cheered. "Are you guys okay?", Cole and Crystal asked in unison. "We're great!", Max said. "You know, besides being about to fall down a bottle miss pit.".

"Uh...what?", Kai said, sounding confused. Even I didn't understand. "It's bottomless pit, Max.", Crystal said, sounding exasperated.

"Oh.", Lloyd said. "Totally knew that.". Then he looked at his feet again. "How are we going to get across?", Jay asked. "They are like, 90 feet across.". "Actually, it's 90 feet and 5 inches.", Kai remarked. "No one cares how many inches it is!", Crystal shouted. "Darn, I thought it was a hundred.", I heard Max say. "There's gotta be some button around here somewhere!", said Kai. "Some button that controls this place.". Everyone walked around to find controls. "I think I found something!", Kai said. I turned to see it was a control base with a bunch of buttons. "I wonder what this does..", Kai said, pressing something.

Then came that shrilling ringing sound. It continued.

"Kai, turn it off!", Crystal shouted. "Can't you see that's what I've been trying to do this whole time?", Kai asked. I saw him pressing lots of buttons, but none of them worked. "I think I have an idea!", Max shouted through the ringing. "This works for all machines! Press-".

"CONTROL ALT DELETE!!!", Jay interrupted.

"Jay, that only works for computers.", Crystal said.

"Do you see a button in the bottom right corner?", Max asked. Kai was silent for a second. "Yes.", he said.

"Someone's banned from Roblox...", I heard Lloyd whisper. I look at Lloyd in a weird way.

"Hold down that button, then spam the button you just pressed until it stops. That should override the system.", Max said. Kai did that and the ringing stopped.

"Ow.", Cole whined. "My head and my ears!".

"Now press the right button to free us.", I said. Kai started pressing random buttons. It took a couple minutes, but the empty hole that surrounded us was now a floor again. Max and I walked across. I then noticed the girl with reddish-brown hair. "Who's this?", I asked.

"I'm Ady!", she said. "I got lost, and Kai found me. I, too, was chased by those evil Time Warriors.". "Kai, found you?", I asked in disbelief. Ady seemed confused.

Now, we had to sneak out, but the guards were probably after us now, thanks to my brother Mr. Pressing Things.

"Where'd you learn that trick, Max?", I asked Max after we got out of the Clock HQ. "I'm an inventor!", Max said. "I know everything about machines!". "Pft!", Crystal scoffed. "Why'd you go 'pft'?", Max asked. Crystal remained silent and didn't answer.

We were heading back so we could figure out who the One Dressed In Black was.

And I have my suspicions...
