"Knock, knock." I hear a voice say behind me as I smooth my shirt.

"What do you want?" I question, turning to face Luke.

"I was bored." He shrugs, sitting on my bed. I already know my mom probably wasn't too happy seeing another boy other than Ashton showing up here but we're not really on speaking terms right now as an aftermath of our last argument.

"I would be willing to help you out with that, but I have somewhere to be soon." I play with my freshly curled hair a little bit in the mirror before facing Luke once again.

"You're going to Ashton's aren't you?" Luke presses his lips into a tight line, as he observes the way I'm dressed.

"How did you know?" I laugh, but the expression on Luke's face doesn't change.

"You never dress up like that unless you're going to see Ashton." Luke points out. I wouldn't say I'm very dressed up. I'm wearing a maroon skirt and white tank top with an oversized brown cardigan. It's not something I would usually wear but I'm giving it a try.

"Is there really anything wrong with me wanting to look good for my boyfriend?" I defend, almost smiling at the word boyfriend.

Luke grimaces, "He's your boyfriend now?"

I nod excitedly, "As a matter of fact, he is. I'm going to meet his parents today."

"Don't you think this is a little weird, Bree?"

"What?" The smile fades from my face as I already know what Luke is going to start doing.

"That once Ash feels threatened by me he feels the need to rush things with you." Luke raises his eyebrows as I furrow mine.

"He's not rushing things, he really likes me."

"I don't know..." He lets out a long sigh.

"Can you just accept that I'm happy with Ashton." I snap. It was inevitable that Luke was going to do this so I don't know why I'm letting it get to me. I guess that was inevitable also.

"I don't know if I can." Luke slowly shakes his head.

"Well, I'm sorry that it's so hard for you to see you're wrong about this, Luke." I cross my arms.

"Please don't be mad." He begs. "I'll stop complaining."

"I have to go." I attempt to walk out of the room but Luke grabs my arm.

"Wait." I'm pulled towards him until I'm sitting on the bed next to him. "Can I just say one last thing before you go?"

"Not if it's something bad about my relationship with Ashton." I try and take my arm out of Luke's hand but he only slides it to meet with my hand, stopping my movements.

"It's not. Just please be careful. I'm willing to accept that you're happy with Ashton if you promise me to not get too invested into this so quickly."

"I'm-" I begin to protest but he cuts me off, moving both his hands to my face so I'm looking right at him.

"Please?"

My breath hitches, feeling Luke's cold hands against my face. I can feel the goosebumps forming on my skin as his blue eyes stare into my brown ones.

My gaze is drawn to his lips. I've imagined what his lip ring would feel against my own lips before. This is a thought I've pushed away since I've convinced myself I don't think about Luke that way, but it's flooding back to my mind and instead of fighting it, I find myself surrendering to it.

I realize what I'm doing and bring my eyes back up to Luke's. His are fixated on my lips now and I just wish I could get into his mind and hear what he's thinking right at this very moment.
