"Of course cookies burn." I scoff. "What kind of question- OH MY GOD!" It finally hits me what Luke actually meant by asking that, as stupid as it sounded.

I'm not sure how long we had been in the shower together but I hope our cookies are okay at least because who knows if we'll even be alive once we face an angry Liz. From my previous encounters with her she has seemed nothing but sweet and laid back but I've never seen her truly mad so I'm not sure what to expect.

Luke quickly shuts off the water and takes my hand as we both step out of the shower. Thankfully there happens to be two towels hanging on the hook behind Luke's door so one of us won't have to scavenge for another. I wrap my soft, white towel around my body while Luke ties his around his waist. Initially, I thought we were going to at least throw some form of clothes on but judging by how Luke is fumbling with the lock on the door, we'll just be in our towels.

"Are we really going to face your mother in just towels?" I question nervously. Liz has basically seen me in my bra and underwear before but I definitely wasn't planning on facing her almost naked again, but I guess that vow is out the window now.

"I'm sorry, but if we don't get down there soon my mom might just kill me." Luke swings the door open and I follow closely behind him as we quickly walk through the hallway and down the stairs. My grip on my towel tightens as we approach a seething Liz staring at the mess we made in her kitchen.

Her back is turned so she doesn't notice us approaching behind her. Luke and I give each other a nervous glance before he finally says something to get her attention.

"Hey, mom." He greets in an attempt to probably lighten the mood.

Liz turns to meet his gaze but her eyes immediately advert to the towel around Luke's waist and then over to my towel. Embarrassment flushes over me but I'm thankful I'm not the only one standing here in just a towel.

"We'll talk about this later." She gestures to our attire. "What the hell happened to my kitchen?!" Her anger is mostly focused on Luke but I still feel pretty bad since I was involved in this mess.

"We were baking cookies and things got sort of messy." Luke smiles sheepishly but the disapproving stare does not leave his mom's face.

"Sort of messy? There's cookie dough everywhere! I think you even got some on the walls." She looks around at our mess, a pang of guilt hitting me once again.

"Mom, I'm so sorry. We were gonna have everything cleaned up before you got back."

"Well you two had other priorities obviously." Liz places her hands on her hips as our towels once again become the subject of the conversation, which is something I was hoping to avoid.

"We sort of got messy too." The nervousness is clear in my voice as I finally say something since we got down here. I didn't want Luke to be the only one taking the heat for this.

"Please tell me you were showering separately." Liz begs. I  can tell the idea of us showering together doesn't sit well with her.

"Of course we were." I quickly lie. Luke gives me a look, probably for lying to his mom like that, but I really don't want the fact that we were making out in the shower to be shared. Liz would probably get the wrong idea if told her the truth. This wouldn't be the first time she has.

Liz lets out a long sigh, "You know what, I'm just going to go upstairs. Please clean this up. And please, put some clothes on."

Luke nods, "It'll look like we were never there."

We both wait for Liz to make it to her bedroom before we decide to go upstairs to put clothes on. This is definitely not how I imagined my day with Luke to go but I think this was a lesson learned for the both of us and I'm praying this will never happen again.
