(a/n) sorry for any mistakes I didn't feel like going back and rereading everything.
"You what?! Abby are you insane?!" I yell into the phone after hearing the words my best friend just told me.
Abby is the girl I wanted to go on vacation with this summer instead of coming here but my evil witch of a mom wouldn't let me. After coming to Australia anyway and meeting the people I have these past few weeks my attitude has changed about the whole thing. L.A. is a place I dream of going to one day but I'm almost happy my mom, as horrible as she is to me sometimes, still forced me to come here with the family.
"I know, I know. My mom is probably going to kill me when she finds out but it's too late now." Abby replies.
"How could you pass up L.A.? You've been talking about it nonstop all year and you didn't go?" I scold her. This decision of hers is beyond stupid. Who knows if she'll be able to have a chance like this again when her parents find out.
"Because I felt bad that you couldn't come with me and we had planned so many things to do this summer. I couldn't go without you." The tone in her voice is sad as she explains herself.
With how excited she was about her vacation, I'm surprised she made such a sacrifice just because of me. I definitely don't deserve her as a best friend.
"So you sold your plane ticket?" I question.
"Yeah, it actually wasn't that big of a hassle." I can almost see her shrugging as she says this nonchalantly. She's always so chill about everything no matter the situation.
"Can you even do that after buying them?" I pace around my bedroom.
"Well no... I kind of lied about the whole selling it part." She admits.
"Then what the hell did you do with it?" I throw my free hand in the air.
"I gave it away to someone who wanted it more than me." She mumbles.
"Abby." I groan. "Who did you give it to?"
"I gave it to Sam." She says quickly probably hoping I wouldn't catch the words as they left her mouth in a jumble but I heard exactly what she said.
"You gave it to that bitch?" I shake my head disapprovingly.
Sam is a girl Abby and I used to be pretty close with freshman year but once we didn't have any classes with her we drifted. Soon she found new friends and started acting like she was better than us and her attitude toward Abby and I changed. She became nothing but rude, ending our friendship almost immediately.
I hate her guts. I would go punch her in the throat right now if I could but I won't have much luck doing that since I'm literally on the other side of the world. She's probably in L.A. now, having the time of her life on a vacation she doesn't deserve.
"Look I know I probably shouldn't have given it to her but no one was here to take it so she was my last resort. I didn't want a plane ticket to go to waste." She defends.
"Abby that plane ticket went down the drain the second you gave it to her." I roll my eyes. "So you're just staying in New York by yourself the entire summer?"
"Not exactly."
"What insane plan have you come up with this time?" I sigh. Abby is the kind of person who doesn't really think about things before she does them so I'm definitely curious to hear what her plans for the summer are.
"I've been taking shifts at my job for the past few weeks instead of taking time off so I could save up money." She explains.
"Save up money for what?" I ask.
