Unexpected (Bas)

I was playing video games with P’Kim in his condo. He hasn’t gone home in a week. This is his private sanctuary and whenever he wanted to be alone he came here. I’m here because Copter asked me to keep my eyes on him. They had a fallout during the tour and Copter stayed rest of the tour with P’Tee while P’Tae had to room with P’Kim.
Just keep an eye on him Nong, you know how careless he can be, was what Copter asked me. And I’m not supposed to tell P’Kim that. I got dad to drop me here and we've been playing video games ever since. He looked unkempt. Shirt buttoned up all wrong and hair unwashed and messy. There were empty beer bottles scattered all over the place.

“God I need a drink

“God I need a drink.” He threw the consoler aside and stood up. He walked to the fridge and opened the door. “Hm…. I’m getting low on beer.” Not a surprise at the rate of you’re going through them, I wanted to say but kept silent. He retrieved a bottle of Corona from inside and turned to me. “Want one?” I shook my head. “Yeah, good decision.” He nodded and twisted the cap. He took two more bottles and closed the door of the fridge.
“P’Kim, why don’t you talk to him again?” I asked laying down my consoler. He shook his head and took a long pull.
“I promised I won’t bother him. I said I would keep my distance. And I’m gonna keep my word.” He sprawled on the sofa and took another swig. “Should have done it earlier in the first place. Should have let him find someone better. Not a fucked up idiot like me. Should have let him go.” He was nodding his head. I wondered whether he was telling me or talking to himself.
“But you’re not okay P’Kim. You’re falling apart.” I held his forearm tighly.
“It doesn’t matter.” He closed his eyes and dropped the empty bottle on the floor. It rolled on the wooden floor.
“I does P’Kim. What about your parents? P'Sprite?” He snorted and sat back grabbing another bottle from the two bottles he placed earlier on the coffee table.
“I’m doing what they want, aren’t I?” He lifted the bottle to his lips and drank long. I stared at him alarmed. I pulled the bottle away from his hand and placed it on the coffee table. He laughed and pulled his greasy hair. “I show up in their stupid fund raisers and stupid dinner parties and present myself as the fiancé. Isn’t that enough? And my dad gets his son in the director board of one of the most prestigious companies in Southeast Asia. I’m doing more than enough for them.” He snatched the bottle back and finished in one go, before I get it back from him. He threw it on the floor and slumped back.
“But you’re hurting. What would P'Cop say if he see you like this?” I waved my hand at him. He ran his hand down his face and let out a long breath.
“He doesn’t have to know.” He looked sharply at me. “Don’t you dare tell him.” He pointed a finger at me. I shook my head quickly. “Let me get over him Nong. Let me suffer in my own way.” He extended his hand and grabbed hold of the remaining bottle.
“I think that’s enough P’Kim.” I stood up and took the bottle from his hand. He laughed.
My phone started ringing and I placed the bottle back on the coffee table and took my phone out. It was a phone call from P’Godt. I smiled to myself and took the call walking to P’Kim’s balcony.
“Hey”
“Hey, where are you?” His deep sensual tone never failed to fluster me.
“I’m at P’Kim’s condo. When would you finish P?” I asked my voice changing. Everyone is teasing me that my voice changes every time I talked to P’Godt. He laughed softly.
“I’m running late. Can you get P’Kim to drop you off at the studio.” I can hear people talking in the background. He has a major photoshoot today for some kind of a promotion. We have plans tonight at his apartment today. We haven’t spent any quality time with him since that night at Malaysia. And it’s been three weeks. I flushed in embarrassment and anticipation.
“Um… I don’t think he can right now, P. Don’t worry I’ll get a cab there. Text me the address.” I looked back at P’Kim passed out on the sofa, the bottle dangling down from his hand.
“Okay. Take the back entrance through the parking lot and come to the dressing room directly. There are lot of people and we don’t want the attention.” He said distractedly. He sounded busy.
“Okay P, see you there.” I hang up quickly. I don't like disturbing him.

When I approached the studio there were lot of people and vehicles around.
“Go through the back entrance and park in the back na P” I said to the cab driver. When he did I paid him and left the car.
I walked in and headed inside looking for the dressing room area. There were several rooms and some were closed. I took my phone out to send him a text. Then I caught a glimpse of him in the distance disappearing into a room. I quickened my steps and followed him.
The door to the room was cracked opened. I peered at him in the semi darkness. He was humming to himself which is odd because he never sang. I sneaked into the room while he was in the process of getting out of his body tight white T-shirt.
I tip toed behind him and hugged him from the back. The moment I hugged and pressed my face to his toned back I knew something’s not right. I froze while he turned to face me, tugging the shirt off his head. I stared up at the stranger I was hugging, in horror. The guy looked down at me with curious amusement. I quickly let go of him and took several steps back and bumped on something and tripped. He lunged forward and caught me, one hand going around my back and one holding my arm. My heart started beating fast. Then he smiled down at me and righted me.

“You alright?” He drawled, removing his arms from around me

“You alright?” He drawled, removing his arms from around me. I nodded staring up at him forgetting myself for a moment.
“I’m sorry P” I looked down. “I thought you were someone else.” I was so embarrassed by now. How could I be so stupid.
“No worries.” He smiled lifting his hand nonchalantly. And I slipped quickly out of the room and walked away faster, slapping my own head. You, you stupid idiot. What’s wrong with you.
“Bas?” I looked up. It was P’Godt. I sighed in relief and walked to his side. “When did you get here? I was about to call you.” He was grinning happily.
“Just now P” I squirmed in embarrassment. No way I was going to tell him about my mishap.
“Let’s go then.” We walked down the back entrance to the parking garage.
Two cars away from P’Godt’s car was the guy I mistook for P’Godt, standing next to a motorcycle. They look so much alike. Same body type, same hair and all. I averted my eyes and tried to hide behind P’Godt.
“Hey Godt.” He greeted cheerfully.
“Joss” P’Godt acknowledged him coldly.

Then he guided me to the car

Then he guided me to the car. My heart started beating in fear. Would he tell anyone about P’Godt and I? He must have figured out the guy I mistook him for is P’Godt. I was afraid of him but terrified of telling P’Godt what happened in the dressing room. I might get scolded for my stupidity and it would ruin our time together. It’s been so long and I don’t know when we will get a chance to be with each other again with both our busy schedules.
“Alright?” He got hold of my hand driving with one hand. I nodded and hid my face in his shoulder. I heard his soft laugh in the dark interior of his car.
