|19| What To Do

I let out a yawn, wiping my tired eyes. I pull up my arm to read my watch, it's 6:27 am. I sigh, rubbing my face with my hands. I glance down to see a blue haired female still asleep in the bed I'm sitting on. Her clothes are a wrinkled mess. Her hair is splayed out over the pillow she's clutching. Her face looks so calm after seeing it twisted up in despair last night.

        I rub my eyes, feeling so tired and drained. Sayaka had cried late into the night. Then, as if that wasn't enough, she would wake up and have another episode due to nightmares. I'm worried her mental state isn't getting any better, but worse.

        A loud snore from a certain male penetrates the air. Leon had fallen asleep in a chair pulled up to the bed side, leaning over the bed. That is not going to be good on his back. He must have fallen asleep when watching over Sayaka for nightmares. He's not going to be waking up anytime soon.

        I slide off the bed, feeling the chill of the blue tile through my socks. I stretch, seeing as there is no point trying to go back to sleep with the morning announcement on the horizon. Better get ready then if I'm going to be up.

        Ding dong, Bing bong

        Leon and Sayaka stir due to the loud piercing noise. Leon's face scrunches up at the irritating sound. Burying his face deeper into the sheets and letting out a loud groan. Sayaka stiffly sits up, rubbing her tired eyes.

        I ignore the headmaster's morning announcement, already knowing what it said. Instead I got up from sitting on the bed edge and picked up a pillow, whacking Leon in the head.

        "Hey!" Leon lifted his head, glaring. "What was that for?!"

        "To wake you up faster," I smiled. "I know you sleep in when I head out to morning meeting."

        Leon faceplants the light pink sheets, letting out a muffled groan. He turns his head to the side, "Can't I sleep for ten more minutes?"

        "If I'm going to morning meeting, the least you can do is get up," I throw the pillow back in place. He and I both know that I mean to watch Sayaka. It's fine with him sleeping in earlier when she was more stable, but now... I don't want to risk it.

        Leon catches on and sighs heavily, "Fine." He stands up and stretches, popping the kinks in his back. "Ugh! Damn my back is sore. I shouldn't have slept in that chair."

        I check on Sayaka, seeing her sitting up and hugging her sling. She stares down at the sheets, completely silent. I gently sit down beside her, putting a hand on her shoulder. She slowly looks at me with dull eyes.

        I pull on a kind smile, "Hey. How are you feeling?"

        She looks back at the sheets, "Tired."

        I rub her back comfortingly, "Well, be sure to get some rest. I'll bring back some breakfast when the meeting is over, okay?"

        Sayaka numbly nods, continuing to sit there. I look up at Leon, both sharing equally concerned looks.

        He sits down next to her on the bed, "Come on, let's catch some Z's. I'll wake ya up when Aria gets back." Leon grinned.
