Jess, and Baron drive off once I've made it to the front door. I ring the doorbell once, not wanting to rush Jace, or push his patience. Almost two minutes later, he answers the door soaking wet, and only wearing a beige towel that covers from his hips to knee caps. He glares at me when humour appears in my eyes as I look him up, and down.
"Don't say a word," he orders, but I know that he's actually not trying to scare me, nor control me. It's simply play. "Just... Give me fifteen minutes, okay?"
"Five," I negotiate with a smirk.
He looks away, his tongue running along his front top teeth. Jace looks at me again, this time there's amusement in his expression. "Ten."
"Deal," I say, and he shuts the door in front of me.
I take a seat on one of the steps, and wait for him to be finished. Only for joking purposes, I set a timer to see how long it really takes him. My heart begins to beat faster when I hear the door open. I look down at my phone to see that he's two minutes, and thirty nine seconds late. I refuse to look at him when he says, "Bored already?"
I turn my head. "I have been for the past twelve minutes."
Of course, Jace is dressed in clothes that could easily get him into a fancy restaurant. While they would tell me to go to Harvey's, or something.
Jace shrugs. "I was meeting you half way then."
"I said five minutes; ten was meeting you half way."
He chuckles until his eyes land on something near my būtt. He motions to it with a jerk of his chin. "What is that --- in your pocket?"
I tense.
"Baron, get out of the car," Jess orders once we've pulled into the driveway, and the car is off.
Baron frowns at her, and furrows his eyebrows in confusion. "Why?"
"I need to speak with Lauren privately."
"Why can't you two get out of the car, and talk outside?"
"Because I don't want to go outside."
"What if I don't want to?"
"Just go."
"Why?"
"Because I said so."
"You're not my mother."
"Yes, but I can make you sleep on the couch."
Baron grumbles under his breath as he gets out of the car. Jess hands me a pack of something, and it's only when I look down at it is when I realize that it's birth control. I stare at her with wide, and slightly horrified eyes.
"I'm not going to assume if you guys have had sęx already, and I'm not saying to do it now, but you should start taking these so it will feel better when the two of you start fūcking."
I don't think I've left a car faster than I did then.
I quickly stand, pushing the packet further into my pocket. "It's nothing." I look passed his shoulder. "Is everything ready?"
He sends me a lopsided grin. "Curious?"
"Very."
He moves aside, and motions for me to go in. I walk passed him, and into the living room where all of the the lights are on. My feet come to a halt once I see what he has prepared.
Red petals from tulips are on the couch, a few of them are on the ground, surrounding the checkered blanket. A few candles are on the nightstands, and the small table in the middle of the room --- well, usually it is, now it's pressed up against a wall. In the middle of it all, a basket filled with food is on the fairly big checkered blanket. It's like a picnic, but inside, a lot more romantic, and so much better.
