Travis continued to tease me about the tree situation, but the noise was terrifying. It wasn't like the sound of a whale, there was no meaning behind it, no feel or emotion. Just a dead screeching sound that scared the scales off of me.

Time past rather quickly while I listen to Travis talk over the phone to Mike, telling him all that Chance had said. Also tacking on what he would've done if Chance had done anything first. I was brought up into an imaginary 'what if' fight scene that existed in Travis' head.

Travis dropped his phone down into his lap after saying good-bye to Mike and turned in his desk chair to face me.

"What are you gonna wear tonight?" He asked me after a quick look over.

"I don't know." I admitted, slumping slightly in my posture. "Niall suggested that I wear something less than fancy but more than casual."

"Hmmm." He hummed to himself, getting up and walking over to the huge dresser we shared. He peeked through my clothes, looking to be chewing on the inside of his cheek. "Remember that Caribbean blue dress you wore the day we went shopping?"

"Yes."

"How's about that?" He suggested.

"It's middled between fancy and casual?"

"Yeah, I would think so. It's a dress, but not too 'in your face'."

"Okay, then." I smiled, sitting up straight.

He pulled out the familiar blue material and held it up, looking it over carefully. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure, Travy."

"Do all female mermaids have bodies like you and Xya?" He asked, peeking over at me.

"What do you mean?"

"You both look very fit, yet amazingly curvy. More hour-glass-like than I've seen many human girls. Is it, like, genetic or something?"

"Or something." I laughed quietly. I stood from my place on the bed and walked over to the window, opening it to let the breeze waft in. Thankfully, it was dying down just a bit. "We need the muscles in our hips to help with the muscles in our tail. Females even swim faster. It's a way for our ladies to survive."

"What about the men?"

"They have the strength to fend for themselves, though they can't swim as fast, they can stand their....ground." I sat on the bench of the windowsill. "Of course, I'm speaking as if there were danger."

"What about the babies?" Travis made himself comfortable where I was sat on the bed, just under a minute ago.

"There was a time where I was the youngest in our whole tribe and it stayed as that for four years until Meelo came along. I was youngest by moon cycles, and years. We were carried upon our mothers back so if there was ever a time to escape, our moms could swim as fast as they could while their young held on with two arms around the neck and the tail wrapped around the mothers." I sighed. "But I didn't have a mother, so I watched on as all the others would just playfully hang on. When we needed an escape, another female would take me until I was fast enough on my own. I might have been the youngest, but because my mother wasn't there, I didn't want to hang on to anyone else. So I practiced my fast swimming and could do it before the older young. I was already on my own at ten years young."

"How old is Meelo now?"

"Thirteen. He was saved by my father at the age of four. I was ten when my dad became king."

"Why aren't their anymore younger ones?"

"Why are you asking so many question?" I teased.

"Just really curious. I've been dying for a better understanding."
