During lunch, Travis introduced me to his friends that sat at the table with him. I could guess why there were more girls than guys sitting around him. He was quite the looker. I sat to his right throughout lunch while everyone crowded the table. They joked about things I didn't really understand, but they all found hilarious. Jessica was the flirtatious one and didn't really take much of a liking to me but the rest of the four girls; Destiny, Raina, Lauren, and Stella was more open and inviting. The guys were, too. Mike and Ryan. They all continued to ask if I was hungry, offering to buy me a plate of their weird looking lunch food, but I would always deny. I wasn't hungry, I was too excited to be in such a big and social place.

After lunch was over, though, I followed Travis around to his classes and sat in the back of the room with him. I learned about calculus and algebra, a new language called French, and I watched how Travis kicked butt at playing volley ball. School wasn't so bad.

I waited in the hall outside of the gym after Travis' last period. He wanted to take a shower because it was hot today and he was sweating while playing. Mike was with him.

I pressed my back against the brick wall in the hallway, looking around until I got bored enough to hum a random melody quietly to myself.

"Evanjaline?"

I turned to the sound of my name, seeing Mike come out of the double metal doors of the gym.

"Hi, Mike."

"Hey." He answered with a smile, coming up beside me and leaning against the same wall. "Liked watching the game?"

"It was very interesting. You and Travis make a good team."

"Travis told me you play a bit."

"Oh, no I don't." I quickly stated, shaking my head. "I actually only just begun knowing how to hit the ball."

He cleared his throat and straightened himself in his position. "So, are you and Travis a thing, or something?"

"A thing?"

"Yeah, are you two dating?"

"Oh, no. He's just a really good friend of mine." I reassured.

"Good."

"Good?"

"Well, I actually wanted to know what you're doing tonight? Maybe we could hang out around town, you know, together?" His brown eyes dropped to the floor as his hands nervously ran through his light brown hair that spiked in multiple places from it being damp.

"I'm sorry, I have a date tonight."

"Not with Travis?"

"No, with someone else." My fingers reached up for my hair that cascaded down my shoulders and I started to twirl them absentmindedly. Just then, we both turned to see Travis, talking on his phone and walking out of the gym doors.

"Yeah, she's right here." He said in to the receiver before offering me the phone. I took it skeptically and pressed it against my ear.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Evanjaline, hey."

"Hi. Who is this?"

"Niall."

"Hello, Niall." I greeted cheerfully. He chuckled. I didn't know how I couldn't have picked up on his accent. He's the only one I know with it.

"Hey. So, what're you doing?"

"I'm at school with Travis and his friends. It's kind of amazing here."

"Is it really? You sound like you've never been." Niall joked, laughing softly.

"Well, you could say I'm new to this."
